Rant! Women vs. My minis

Warning, this is an off topic a rant, I just needed to yell a bit.

Ok, so it seems that any woman in my life at best tolerates the mini painting, and, as I learned this weekend, can be downright hurtfull about it.

I got a \"Eric, you obviously have some talent, why don\'t you do something worthwhile with it?\" and went on to try to convince me I have been wasting my time and money at the hobby.

Well that of course turned into a argument and now we\'re not talking, and I don\'t know we will again (it got messy).

This has happened a couple times before in varrious ways (all ending poorly), I almost want to get a room for paintingwith a lock and never let anyone in there! :flame:

-Eric

PS sorry for the self indulgent topic, it\'s just been driving me crazy. There aren\'t a lot of other mini-painting sympathetic people around me here to rant to

Any worthwhile partner should support what you enjoy doing and what makes you happy instead of trying to force you into some cultural definition of \"worthwhile\". Life is too short (actually it is long and brutal, but you only get one shot at it is more accurate..)

My best bet would be to avoid the topic, if it\'s ever brought up just say it\'s art and move on to somthing els :p Anyway you\'re not the one painting your face :p Painting miniatures seems like a more interesting activitie to me :D

I agree completely.

haha, thanks gypsy, I appreciate the offer and all....but....

See, it\'s not a problem when getting to know someone, I think at that point it\'s logged in their brain as a possitive, that there are artistic tendancies. The problem is later when there is no hiding what it is anymore, and it gets into the \"I can change Eric for the better\" stage.

Primeval, I agree 100%, however it seems harder to find in RL than in theory unfortunately.

Oh well, more time to paint now right? lol

Now I just need an Ogre

PS Supervike, I don\'t have a deathwish yet! But I\'ll keep that in mind if I ever do :p

I was just trying to secure you \'much more free painting time\'....;)

P
If she is worth it she will accept you for who you are my friend and at worst tolerate this bizzare habit we have of hoarding and painting lead. This hobby goes way back mind you- so no need to defend it.
Ask her if it would be better if you gambled all of your money, spent it on cheap women or smoked dope? I used to do all the abovelol, and this is much better on your health:];)
It does litter up the joint once and a while- but agree to have a \"spot\" for it and to keep it more or less tidy- that\'s the only thing my lovely gal worries about.

it\'s a bit weird really, caus ei really wouldn\'t want to be with someone who is dead into minis and painting etc...I mean, it\'s nice if your other half(or even your friends) respect your choice of career/hobby in life, but to share your private life with another frothing fanperson....**shudders** no, relationships without minis for me please....

Yeah, but your method might secure me a couple broken hands as well.

Tammy, I think I am basically along the same mindset as you, and have in my past pretty much avoided other mini painters, just because it\'s nice to have my own thing and they, their own thing. And it seem more and more mini painters seem to get competitive, which I\'m sure would not help in a relationship.

Thats fair enough but in the end I dont think we really have much control with who we fall for.

I am sad that the glow of your accomplishment has been snuffed by someone who may never make such a step. It my not have been a bad thing that happened even though it hurt deeply.
You are gifted and some one who can not stand in your glow should not be by your side:)

see thats the complete opposite for me, i couldnt have a relationship with someone who wasent a gamer \"geek\" of some sort or another, i would feel awkward knowing that my \"other half\" thought i was crazy while I was getting upset on the eyes of my latest mini...you know? i think it would be better to have someon who knew what it was like when you just effed the blending that took your whole session to do.

so far i havent found anyone with those exact qualifications...being a gamer and still...uh....personable.
:D

This is precisely the point at which you should R - U - N lollollollollol

The only person I would not suggest this to is Peter. It\'s no good running when your caught in mole grips or when your beloved is good with a sniper rifle. :p

Well 18 seems like a good age for the barrier :p Then again eric might be looking for somebody older :p But 18 year old mini painters work nice for me :p Or non painter too for that matter both work for me, guess I\'m not to picky :innocent:
