I only really do terrain, so I only vote on terrain. I look for little details, like wild grass and weathering. If a structure makes no sense, it gets marked down. f.e. if the building looks like it wouldn\'t stand.

Presonally I don\'t think WIPs shoudl be aloud in the voting pages, it should be something for the forum only. Due to this I will often vote low and comment as such. My ratings for a WIP are 1-5, not 1-10, as 5 is tabletop, and a WIP is most likely not up to Tabletop standard (though I did give a couple for nearly finished pieces, as I would put them on the table).

Greens I had a hard time with at first, but now do as many do and rate the sculpture.

I\'ve been griping about the guidelines pretty much since I started here, I think it gives a GW bias to many people\'s voting. Plus if we were GD judges, for something to be tabletop, all it needs is three colours and based. When I see only that I tend to give 2s.

Well, its a very subjective thing. If its painted, I rate it based on that. If its a conversion thats unpainted, I will likely rate it based on originality and quality of the sculpt/conversion. If its just a green then I base it solely on the sculpt.

However if its just and unconverted model someone has put together from a regular sprue, no conversion, no nothing, then its an automatic 1.

It\'s all subjective.
Spacemunkie, Supervike and Einion have hit the core points right on the head.

If one of the posted mini\'s on here make you go \"Oh that\'s a cool idea / piece of work\" then that\'s the whole concept of the site.

On the other hand there are demonstratable Fanboy/Back Slapping /Clique factors which as Einion pointed out artificially bloat scores.

Basically I followed the original guidlines of the site when voting, but I have to be honest I see so many comments overrating mini\'s which are barely above tabletop and submissions which evoke a Meh reaction that I do not often bother to vote and comment now.

Is this hypothetical mini painted or not?

If it\'s the one I\'ve seen then \"not\"

This is what I do. If the colors are in the right placew and it doesn\'t look like a mutant walking colorful slab of lead it\'s a 5. If it looks like someone is trying to at least give the color some depth or highlite it\'s a 6. If they do a standard job of shadow and highlite and the paint is relativly smooth but it\'s not complex it\'s a 7. If it\'s heading toward what could get into a competition and get serious consideration for some kind of prize it\'s and 8. If it\'s something that makes me go OOOO damn that makes me stop and look at the details for more than 3 mins it\'s a 9 and if I cry when I look at it because I\'ll never in my life be able to do that shoot me now it\'s a 10.

I NEVER vote on WIPs. I only vote on greens if they are done and I might actually see myself painting them and I spit and skip over anything that has more than 1 view posted, swearing while I do it.

Some minis are too big and complex to have one view; but even with those there is a limit to what I can take. The ones I really get annoyed with are the ones that have a seperate submission for every 20 degrees turn of the mini, and usually they\'re badly painted or not painted at all.

I just vote according to what I feel is right, if a mini screams 8 !!! at me I\'ll vote 8. If I can\'t decide between 8 or 9 I usually look at the techincal aspect.

Those are the ones I mean. I have absolutly no problem with multiple views in 1 posting but don\'t post once for the frnt, once for the back, etc. That just makes me mad.

regarding greens I don\'t think that you should look at it as non-finnished... you should rate the sculpting work that\'s made on the mininature, that\'s my oppinion at least :)

It\'s a funny old world I never gave any thought to it no system no plan of attack I just enjoy looking at minis and mark what it feels like to me .I enjoy looking too much to get bogged down with a system...I don\'t comment as much as I used to unless either A) something stops me dead and just makes me go woooooahhhhh.... or B) somebody needs constructive help.

I hate seeing a team mini getting put up followed by hundred comments of your a god etc etc....

there are some funny trends at the minute direct comparison never works it all depends what is submitted around the same time....and how that piece stands out....look even further back at the galleries and see everyone gush in amazement and give the first ever NMM model they\'ve seen 10\'s and compare it to now..

I agree on the subject of greens. Of you\'re going to mark down a green for not being painted, you should mark down every paint job that isn\'t a self-sculpt.

Other than that, it\'s all highly subjective. The ratings are \"curious\" because you have hundreds of people voting, all with very different criteria and motivation. \"You pays your money, you takes your chances.\"

one that really bugs me and has been massively prevelant a lately is over inflated scores for minis with ebay links especially from studios...(something like 8.9 non member rating 5.1 member rating and the same in the opposite direction when average joe puts a great paintjob with an ebay link and thescore gets flamed....4.2 non registerd 8.1 registered that sucks....

How do you sort by member/nonmember? Or anything else for that matter. On that votes, I mean. Not on what I\'m shown to vote on.

You can only do that if you are a subscriber

Honestly, there should be a rule or something. LEARN TO EDIT IMAGES. It\'s not hard. There\'s a tutorial (using a freeware program) right in the articles section. Just don\'t post 14 views of the same mini, separately. A lot of us will only vote on one.
