I vote 10\'s a couple of times per month as well... as people have mentioned if 10 were perfect there would be very few 9\'s either. I vote 10 on everything I consider 9.5-> and sometimes on things l consider 9+ but is rated in the 8\'s (like somthing I consider 9.2 but is rated 8.5). I am trying to stop doing that though as I know it can irritate people and it is a bit like I am trying to manipulate the scores to fit \"my view\" of what\'s right. Any thoughts on that? I never do the opposite though even if I can be harsher then many others.

I do use under 5 though as I think tabletop quality does not mean 3 colours and based anymore like it used to do + that I think that the posting guides aren\'t ment to be interpretated literary (like golden demon winning quality.. what is that?). I could go into details on exactly how I vote but I think I\'ve done it earlier.

Also, as the guide says \"imagine you are a Golden Demon judge\" or something similar does that mean we should disqualify anything that isn\'t GW? lol

I\'ve never gotten round to voting decimals (simply too much effort for a lazy git like me) so I tend to round up if I\'m thinking in between scores.

As for compensating for what I feel are under/over rated minis... No. I\'ll vote what I think and innocently assume that that is what everyone else is doing :innocent:

I don\'t vote to try and compensate for minis that are scoring lower (or higher) than I personally think they should be. I vote according to what I think.

That being said, I don\'t blame anyone for wanting to do something like that. If people are comfortable with doing it, then more power to them.

I wouldn\'t really want to add anything more to what Dauber said...

When I first came here I was gobsmacked, but the bar just keeps getting raised so now I go by coolness as well.

Pretty much in line with some others here, In than everything I vote on is generally in the 5-9 region, been thinking I may be a little harsh as perhaps 60/40 I vote below to above the average, don\'t try to vote higher or lower to shift a mini though, hoping if I vote honestly others doing liekwise will balance it out. (also if my opinion is too harsh or lenient it will balance out). Has led to me occasionally voting more than 1.0 above, or even more rarely below, the average, but again just honest opinion, try to to let the average put me off what I think (select my vote then look at it), also give X.5s when I feel the need.

In any case I vote pretty much on the painting quality, though the \"coolness factor\" probably deicides me to vote a point higher rather than lower if I\'m undecided. Some notable exceptions, such as the fringe magnet epic space hulk ;), or a brilliant piece of terrain.

10s? Not sure how many I give, but I do give them often enough. I know there have been a lot more nines though, and since being here a while the number has fallen, but generally if I see something that makes me sit back in sheer envy it\'ll get one. Ie something I think would win a daemon or is of the same quality.

Low Scores

People tend not to use the whole 1-10 score range.
Heck, I\'ve TRIED to get a low score and ended up getting some 9s and 10s (though a lot more 1s).

I think one problem is that \"tabletop\" is 5, and when people look at this site, they tend to be intimidated and only want to post what is above the norm.

I think a farer scale might be 1- below tabletop, 2- tabletop, 10- amazing.

Anyway, matters to some, doesn\'t matter to others. I keep my rating in my sig so it\'s easy for me to keep track of since I live in the forums. I watch it as a sign of my personal improvement - and that often means more my ability to present a \"cool\" idea than my skill in painting.

Hey, for those of you who don\'t give low scores, I suggest you browse the galleries from lowest score to highest. You\'d give more lower votes, but you\'d probably also give more constructive criticism.

Hmm think Ive done this before so I hope I say the same as last time. If I see a mini and I say OMFG the its a 10. But I do vote the whole range. Not often do I vote under 6 but I will if it needs it. I try to justify both a low or hi score tho and I will also vote high for coolness. Also I vote low on Vikes stuff cause Im trying to stay higher than him, even tho I dont believein the scoring system and am immune to its lure.

OK enough rambling someone post a pic for Gods sake.

Nothing political, just a picture for God\'s sake.

I\'m one of those who always views the whole range of pics not just the top ten this week etc. I enjoy seeing the different levels of painting and styles as they develop which you can miss out on if you\'re only looking at the elite minis. I know people use this site for different reasons and some just want to see the jaw-dropping, drool-inducing mega minis and I don\'t blame them for that, they are amazing and inspirational. But not being one of the top painters myself (yet) I know how important it is to give and get feedback to aid development - even if it means low scores as long as they\'re fair.

I have to agree that the scoring system is a bit strange here. It basically ranges from [5] mediocre to [10] outstandingly eye-popping. Do we really need a whole 1-5 to describe bad to mediocre. This fixing [5] as \"Tabletop\" has effectively shrunk the voting range down to the top half of the scale, thus creating stickier problems on what deserves what. It also allows snipers to cause more damage to scores than fanboys.

But I also agree that the 10 is there to be used. \"perfect\" is a logical impossibility.

CA will possibly shoot me for this...

...and I am not sure if it is even true:D

There was a site in the 90\'s called \'Cool Naked or Not\'.

Basically, people posted piccies of themselves sans clothes and got \'rated\'. I suspect CMON spawned from that and should be treated with the same sense of lightheartedness???

I saw a site like that rating breasts.

There were ALOT of \'tabletop\' quality ones there...so I soon got bored of it.

voting gets abused due to people making the majority of their entire living from this site.

use it for critisism and improvement as well as chatting to like minded people about the hobby you like.

getting hung up on scores isn\'t healthy mate.

I agree that ten should be used. Since I\'ve found CMON I\'ve found myself voting more that painting. I try not to give lower that 5 myself as I can always find something I like unless the pic is too blurry or way to small, I tend to give a higher vote if I can really see the mini. I tend to hand out my tens to mainly established artist, i.e. Wallepius (my favorite), Alez_Z, and so forth but do not hesitate if I say WOW when first seeing the pic.

Tabletop quality breasts. Are they the ones that sag so low, they find themselves resting on said tabletop...?

Not surprised you got bored!

I just looked at that link Jondalar. My god, those people need to see a doctor!!

Hi Guys

I can see the idea of \'cool mini\' but how much is the person influenced by the category of the mini? I love Heresy minis but others may not. Do you only vote on your favorite manufacturer?
Oh and by the way 5150 is the police code for a nutter. As I suffer from deperession it seems the right username.:drunk:
