Ratlings are fantastic for a number of purposes. Get 10 of them and play pop goes the carnifex, sure it gets a pretty good armour save but there\'s not many other guns which wound something that tough on 4s.
Last time I used them I was playing against the new Blood Angels rules and I managed to set them up in cover behind his lines. All his Death Co. were automatically drawn straight to them as they were the closest target. Sure they eventually got torn to bits but they managed to stall his advance as the Death Co. spent two turns going in the wrong direction and were too late to join in with the main charge, and the plucky little chaps managed to kill one in hand to hand into the bargain!
Yes, get them. Anytime you\'re playing tough troops, ratlings offer an excellent opportunity to nearly autohit and wound on a decent 4+. That means that fielded in strength (ie unit of 10) , they can make a serious difference in your results.
They have less value when facing lower toughness opponents, but really, they should amount to 4 or 5 wounds per round they are in range of an ememy.
Well...this has something to do wit this thread.........I read that a Ratling once took down a SW Blood Claw in close combat???lol???lol Definetly get em:yes::yes:
Don\'t forget that they are awesome against weaker troops as well though. Seen em decimate a guard command squad because of their rubbish saves. (Was funny when the colonel ran and the Commissar shot im!) A 50% chance of wounding is phenomonal for their points cost. Infiltrate them, get them up high on terrain and you can just watch anything with multiple wounds run in fear.
