Girders? You can make them with plasticard, or buy them from a specialist store.
I\'m not sure which ones, but I\'m sure someone will...

And if you want to give them that twisted look as in the example you gave.

Heat them up with a hair dryer, and until you fell the plastic has some give and twist them.

any good model train store will have them. Ask for plastic girders.

You can get them in metal as well should you be interested. Art supply stores ought to carry them, particularly if there\'s a university nearby with an architecture program. They may be referred to as I-beams.
Architects make scale models of their designs so I find their supplies to be rich produce for terrain.
