[Reaper] Basing Help!

Hallo,

I\'ve recently got into Reaper minis, but I have a problem: their tacked-on bases are really annoying. The big bulge stands out when placed on flat-surface bases, such as those made by GW and Warmachine, even after applying sand, flock, and whatnot.

Is there any way you veterans get around this obstacle?

Cheers and great appreciation,

cut the base and his feet apart.

Or

just dont put it onto another base just paint and/or flock it as it is.

hope this helps

I try to level things out when basing on - yes, it looks mounded if all you do is put one layer of sand or flock, but if you level it out it will look better.

sanding it down bottom up on coarse sandingpaper helps also to greatly reduce the standing on a little private mountain look. I usually just lay the sheet of sandingpaper on the table and move the mini on top.

I found the same problem with intergral bases. Cutting them off isn\'t always an option (plus you can damage the feet and so on if you slip) and building up flocking in layers to hide it isn\'t always the way you want to go. I made hollow bases to just drop them into and fill in the around any spaces left. That solves the bulge problems without the cutting or building up of flocking/ballast/etc. This is what I use for the majority of my intergral based Reapers now. If you are interested in those you can find them here.

A wealth of info here, guys!

However, I will gleefully try out the sanding method as stated by cdukino. I\'ll also check out Valloa\'s link for the hollow-type bases, which also seem very ideal.

@steelcult, do you use putty to \"flatten\" the bulge out around the integral base, or just keep adding layer upon layer of flock? That also seems like a good method, lol...
