Reaper Dark Maiden (done but with photo problems)

So the Reapers Dark Maiden is the inspiration for my next little project, and at one point a link to a photo of an increadibly painted Dark Maiden was posted here, I think by Frustrated Father. Of course now I want to take a closer look at that image and I can\'t find it again...help?

Found it! thanks Darthfoley for pointing it out originally, I got this evil little idea for something special for this outstanding sculpt last night, and it nearly kept me awake wanting to get started. I think it will be by far my most involved freehand to date, you\'ll see! :cool:

Is really cool! Once again, I wish I had money.. Oh, well.. back to painting this semester, hopefully...

That\'s a brilliant model, and one I\'m terrified to try.

I look forward to seeing your version of her, Eric...sounds like you have something elaborate planned. :)

why am i wasting my time here writing if i could have already bought that masterpiece
the casting itself is gorgeous but the painting ... that subtle lightening, the limited but still awesome color palette ... the base WHOA
thanks eric for mentioning it here! (and lighten my wallet )

Joshua, that was exactly my reaction the first time I saw her also, and the actual figure is even nicer in real life, very well done. It\'s almost made to look like an angel, with the ship as her wings, which I wanted to play off of in the paint job, however, then I got this other idea...which made me basically forget all my previous plans for her. :]

Well that would ruin all the fun wouldn\'t it! However I did manage to get about 10 hours of work in on this one this weekend, which, due to the fact I\'m super busy and had no free time to spare came straight out of my sleep! So I\'m dead at work today, but worth it...I hope ;)

OK, so i\'m getting pretty excited about this mini, and I think I am in love with the sculptor, as they did such a good job on this one...

But here are some teaser WIP pictures, however as you can see the base is empty atm...and that is the source of my real motivation...but for that you\'ll have to wait until it\'s done.

As always, feed back on this WIP would be lovely!

its as pretty as the original painting from the page, i thought that would be nearly impossible
why the hell havent you won any golden demons yet?
im excited as hell about the base!
i guess i will give mine some more scrapped planks and barrels when it arrives.
really great work :)

Wow, I must say that after seeing this partially painted up, that it may be one of the most incredible miniatures that has been produced.

Great job Eric, I can\'t wait to see the final product.

Joshua, I\'ve seen your paint skills, I have no doubt you\'ll do the dark maiden justice once you get her painted up.

errr, as for demons, well...first I would have had to enter...well actually first I would have had to make an entry piece, then enter...neither I\'ve done. And then there are so many extraordinary painters out there, I\'d be shooting to make the cut. But my goal in my dreams is maybe a bronze by the end of \'06. I just don\'t have the sculting/converting skills I don\'t think, even if my painting makes the grade. :(

They *can* be won by painting ability alone, and you have the ability, IMO. Go for it!

haha, now you\'re ganging up on me, but regardless I would love to make it to UK \'05 even if I don\'t have anything to enter, but unfortunately due to general life craziness probably the earliest I\'d make it over there is \'06. LA or Seatle might be more realistic this year...:(

ANYWAY, enough of me hijacking my own thread, ideas to improve Mrs. Dark Maiden?

ok i just got mine
can you imagine how i feel when all my orders arrived, wolfen, dark maiden, sophies etc etc and i have to paint the ogres? ;D
the package did arrive after 2 just days (us to germany) and they included a free color! really cool, and it better is for 20$ shipping ;)
but unfortunately my holiday sophie 72 mm arrived without her eyes, nose, lips and left arm and i consider that a sign of god who wants to tell me \"go and learn sculpting you bum\"
could take a while until i can put mine up but i\'ll give my best not to bring disgrace on the dark maiden lol
