Good painters can use any kind of paint and make \'em work.

I own some Master Series paints and really think they work well! Never had any chalking issues with them. They also have a very good range of colors. Jennifer Haley doesn\'t seem to have any problems with them. Their old pro-paints are good too.

I own the whole set and know about the chalking issue but I\'ve found it\'s more about you water than the paints. Use ditilled water when you paint and you shouldn\'t have a problen. I use almost nothing else. I don\'t know a good supplier in the UK though. I get mine from www.miniature-giant.com

AND pay full import duty.
I got hammered with this when I ordered from Reaper as they use UPS who insist in paying the Duty up front, and are abysmal at redelivery. They don\'t work Saturdays so it\'s a trip to find their depot and put up with the hassle.

That\'s pretty much what happened to me the first time I ordered from Reaper, too. I had to pay the duty and a handling fee, which ended up being nearly 20 quid. It was really annoying, and strongly put me off doing it again. Mind you, I did recently change my mind and order some things from them (I wanted a couple of oop minis), and it was ok. But it\'s not something I\'d risk on a regular basis.

Your better getting a Friend in the US to order them for you, then package them up and send them with the Gift box ticked :)

Yep - having a mate post \'em to you is a much cheaper option! I recently bought 9 bottles of the Foundry paints (good paints) over the internet and the postage costs were nearly the same as the price of the paints. Very steep!!

As some of you guys said ealier. Tax and Duty for that is quite hefty. On top of that Royal Mail is charging \"handling and procesing fees\" that are quite high as well. Oh, well. Will stick to what I have. Cheers folks.

Bad batch

Hi Meg. It\'s not good if you get a bad batch of paints. Like I said, I\'ve had no issues with the MSPs\' I\'m using. It seems you\'re more of an expert on this matter as I have never used the problem colors you talk about. Yep - the old Pro-Paints are cool. I think the worst paints I\'ve ever used are the Rackham color paints.

Anyone noticed that Humbrol have brought out a range of Acrylic paints to match their enamels?

Bought a couple to test, roughly the same price as Vallejo for a similar amount. Funky style paint pots though. Lids are cut at a diagonal and can clip to the base to make a more \"stable\" platform.
No haven\'t tried them in anger yet.

About Rackham paints. They are one of the best paints I had. Rackham paints don\'t go well with all projects but thay have one quality that the rest lack. They are completly matt. Exellent for flat effects.

Still looking for Reaper paints retailer in UK. So far no sucess. I came across one company in Poland but the price is a little to much.
Best Wishes,

You\'d be much better off with Vallejo Model Color. Completely matte without the strange properties of the Rackham paints. Mix well with other brands, thins down well, and the selection of colours is HUUUGE!

The only drawback is that you have to shake the pots quite vigorously or the paint might separate, and the paint is less durable than some other brands (but if you plan on gaming with minis you should varnish them anyway, so it\'s no big deal).

I do have quite a good selection of Vallejo paints. They are very good and some of the ready colours are just amazing. I have all citadel paints - even an orange ink :). I think I have pretty much so every colour of Rackham range. I started to use some of the P3 paints as well. They are very good. Want to really try Reaper Paints but they are not available in the UK. Shame.

PS. Rackham paints taste good lol

Gotta say i\'m still using GW paints with a few vallejo pots as well. Had very few problems, however now i am having to replace some paints. Seems the ones i have that are about 6 years old are cracking once they dry on the mini regardless of what i do.

DeadlyKyitha, if you ask Reaper (questions@reapermini.com seems to be their catchall questions email address), they may be able to point you to a UK supplier.

There probably is no \"best\" paint that works for all people for all purposes. What paint is \"best\" depends on the person\'s style, what they are painting, and personal preference (as well as just availability). What works well for me may not work well for you.

DaRat n1, thanx. I\'m not that worried about postage costs and price in US. Problem starts when I receive goods from outside EU I need to pay hefty duty charges + RM charges some imaginery handlig fees. On many occasions all charges went over the original price . I will keep on trying to buy some Reaper paints. Who knows..maybe one day...
