Reaper paint

But if you\'re buying in a local store, it\'s still worth checking for the sticker or if it\'s the new style packaging. Or ask the staff when it came in if they know. Having worked in a local game store I know it can take years for stock to turn over depending on various factors.

I have nothing against the Reaper paints really. I do like them. But I just think there are better paint brands out there for the work I\'m doing.

So fieldarchy, if you don\'t mind me asking, what paints are you switching to since you\'re steering away from the RMS?

as an example of using different companies lines, i currently use gw foundation paints (for glazes), vallejo game and model colour, foundry and a pot or two of coat d\' arms.

i\'m also starting to experiment with oils and enamels as i use them on AFV\'s anyway.

My only real complaint is that I don\'t like the paint pots. I either have to use an eye dropper or my brush to draw out paint from the pot, and it\'s really inconvenient. Dropper bottles are so much better!

Are there any painting clubs at your FLGS? Getting together with other painters might give you a chance to try different paints to see which you like best. Just because one painter likes a brand doesn\'t mean that it\'s a good brand for you.

Failing that, you can pick up a few pots from each brand that you want to try and go from there.

Which paints exactly depends on what you are painting and what you need. If you are painting orcs with a traditional greenish tint, you\'ll need some greens or olives, but may want to pass on the blues.

For example, pick up a skin tone triad (tanned?), Brown Liner, and another triad (off whites? ivories? bones?) from the Rear MSP line (or just get one of the Learn to Paint kits), some from the P3 line (I\'ve heard that the reds are good), and some from GW.

Well I bite the bullet & got my paints.. after a lot of looking around & reading what others thought of all the paints I had to go with P3.. I really love the colors & I found a hell of a deal on them..((11.69 a box set)) so I got
Cygnar colors
Khador Colors
Protectorate Colors
Cryx Colors
Iron Kingdoms Colors

I hope this is a good starting point for me.. Im going to keep my Gw colors for now.. but hopefully Ill be able to get the rest of the P3 sets & phase most of them out.

thanks so much for all your guys help
