ReaperCon May 2008 - are you attending?

Greetings fellow mini lovers of the world:

I am just wondering who all is planning on attending ReaperCon 2008 this May in Denton, Texas, USA. Reaper has not officially posted the dates, but my understanding is that it has been scheduled to run May 15 (Thurs) thru May 18 (Sun).

I\'m attending.

I\'d love to visit any of you that will also be attending that I know from here on CMON but have not had the pleasure of ever meeting in person.

I attended ReaperCon 2006 and had a fabulous time. The sculpting and painting classes were fun and informative. As most folks not, I do not claim to be a mini-artist myself, but rather a patron of the art who collects the little bits of beauty created by the real artists in the mini-community. Even so, the classes were great fun to learn more about the craft and meet other folks who share my passion.

Drop me a line if you plan to be at ReaperCon if you want meet up and say hello. :)

ReaperCon 2008

@ MathewBaich -- Great. Once I find out who all plan to attend from CMON and get together for a visit, I can suggest a get together time and place.

The convention runs 4 days, but some folks are limited to attending only the Saturday and Sunday as they cannot take time off from work on the Thursday and Friday. Probably what would work best, imho, is that maybe we set aside a time on the Saturday at the end of the convention day to get together and say hello. What do you think?

Perhaps we could meet someplace for a no-host pizza and pepsi (or beer) ...if there\'s any such interest. If not, no biggie. I\'ll let folks know my schedule and will be wearing a name tag so I\'ll be easy to find.

Anyone else interested in setting a time on Saturday for CMON friends at ReaperCon to say meet and say \"hi\" ?

Which would be better, just linking up at ReaperCon during the day like at lunch hour? or going out for pizza somewhere? or just waving at each other from across the room. <tee hee>:D

Lunch time - Saturday May 17th

Okay, so I thought I\'d better update the forum as to my whereabouts at ReaperCon on Saturday, May 17th.

It looks like my brother -- who lives locally--has family dinner plans for us on Saturday evening. So, I won\'t be free in the evening.

So, if anyone wants to meet and visit, I think I be around over the lunch hour at the Con location on the Saturday afternoon. As I recall, they had a food court (well, sorta) ... okay, well, they had FOOD for sale at lunch time. So, I\'ll plan to eat lunch that day at ReaperCon.

I\'ll wear a name tag. Just come over and say hi. :)

If you want me to be on the look out for you, just let me know.

if you want to find me, I\'ll probably be the only white dude with dreadlocks there so I\'ll be pretty easy to find.

Dreadlocks at ReaperCon

Dreadlocks ! Awesome. :)

I\'m leaving my crown at home, but I\'ll try to look conspicuous in some other way. Besides the ho-hum name tag, maybe I\'ll carry a loud-colored tote bag or wear a simple rhinestone pin that modestly says
QUEEN in big capital letters.

I know it\'s subtle, but it works.

I don\'t post much here but will be attending ReaperCon.

As an added bonus a bring a big box of miscellaneous Hirst Arts pieces for people to pick over and take home. My little contribution.

I\'m the short round one with brown hair. ;)

What ? Not entering the painting contest ?

@ Flynn: What !!!??? You\'re not planning on entering even one of the painting contest categories? ...As I recall, ...from sitting in the audience at the time, ...ahem..., you basically swept most the categories at the 2006 ReaperCon. I was looking forward to hearing your name repeated, over, and over, and over, and endlessly over again during the awards ceremonies, this year.

As I recall, Anne got the giggles in the middle of the Sophie presentations. lol (We blame you for all embarrassment caused.)

Well, at least you\'ll be there. I\'ll hunt you down and tease you.

Me, I\'m too smart to enter something. I think the resulting giggles would be for an entirely different reason.

See you at the Con !

Considering I\'m now in with the Masters, there\'s only one category for me to enter.

Of course, I could enter it and finish dead last, but where\'s the fun in that?

Truthfully though, I took a longish break from painting over the past year, and haven\'t actually finished anything since August. At the rate I\'ve been painting, I don\'t think I\'d be able to finish a Reaper figure that I\'d be happy with in two months.

I do have a couple of Rackham figures that I\'m working on now, so I\'m trying to re-acquire enough painting skill that I won\'t embarrass myself in the classes I\'m teaching.

I\'ll be at reapercon and I do plan on entering the comp. It\'ll be my first \"real\" comp outside of local stores. I\'m pretty stoked about coming. :D

Thanks for the well-wishes Mathew...I\'ll do the best I can. Win or not it\'ll still be a fun experience for me. I look forward to it.

I\'ll be attending this year, and looking forward to the opportunity to meet the Queen and other CMONers I haven\'t had the chance to meet at previous cons!

Like Flynn I\'m now stuck in the Masters category. But I am planning to enter, provided I can ever settle on an idea for what to paint. Being able to enter just one thing makes the decision making process even more stressful than usual for contests. (Where I usually do just enter one or two things but fool myself into thinking I\'ll enter more so I don\'t feel like I have to have one perfect idea.)

I\'ve got the RC competition slated for 2009, but I\'m still undecided as to whether or not I\'ll just show up this year.
Between school/WoW and everything else, I\'m having to spend what little painting time I have concentrating on Gen Con.

A good BBQ party might just entice me to make a Texas \"social\" run this year....8)

Kev-people are pretty much openly invited to Chez Meg as long as it isn\'t any Reaper Employees (save Bryan cuz he\'s cool).

I\'ll be there with balls on.

I\'ll be the one who looks like a pre-steroid Stone Cold. You can spot me as I\'ll be the one trying to act like I don\'t mind that I didn\'t make to the Masters Class next year. I also live about an hour away, on a small horse farm...and will probably be BBQing, and getting intoximicated after the festivities, M\'kay. I\'d invite some of ya\'ll out after Rcon, but the baby will be about 8 months old, and convincing the wife that we need to have a gathering will be pushing it. Although, if I could get Jeremie and Aaron to come hang out, I\'d suffer the wrath of a pissed off wife.

Seriously though, I\'m really looking forward to it, and can\'t wait to finally meet Wren, who kicks my @ss in the Toadstools all the time.
