I was going to make the pandora.com comment but looks like Matt already pointed you that direction.

I currently have Jack Johnson, Michael Buble, and Nine Inch Nails stations going. Love \'em!

a cool Aussie band called The Dirty Three.

That\'s Warren Ellis\'s old band, right? He\'s part of the Bad Seeds now (and also a member of Grinderman, Cave\'s garage rock band). I remember seeing Nick Cave solo once (without the Bad Seeds) and The Dirty Three opened for him. Good stuff!

Well i will say that because of Australia\'s small population, you must have gone to a pretty small scholl if you can\'t claim you went to school with someone semi famous. A good friend of mine went to school with Baz Luhrmann. Most of the famous people i went to school with are (at least in Australia) athletes....or criminals. Our year had the largest amount of graduates in jail after three years than any other year.

Back to music.
Good to know that Nick Cave is so well liked outside of Australia. I would consider him one of the best Australian artists along with Paul Kelly...different to Nick Cave, but i love his stuff as well.
Missy Higgins - Just love her voice and music
Sarah Blasko - Does a lot of covers of Australian groups but are heaps better than the original.
Ayumi Hamasaki - Don\'t understand most of what she sings, but love her style.
I also was given a whole heap of chinese/indian fusion music recently. Really strange, but really cool.

Hehe - that\'s an interesting theory. There\'s more people in Taiwan (a seriously small island) than in the whole of Australia!

I woke up this morning thinking it was a little lame of me to drop names like I did. It\'s kinda like saying, look how cool I am...

Of course Nick was there years before I went there. I\'m not that old.

You know threads like this cause me to view more You Tube videos than any other. :D

Einion & Snowball99 many thanks for some of those listings......My wallet is gonna hate you both however.
Avalorn: Sven the link you put up of the Girl Guitarist \"Ane\" very sweet look and very good voice, thanks mate owe you for that one.

I have to admit though that I\'m not a big fan of Heavy Metal music, I think it\'s something to do with wanting to hear the clarity of the human voice.
And probably why I find female vocalists, like my all time favourite Loreena McKennitt, so appealing.

Check out Kate Rusby: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=No5FkAmTaJY&feature=related

Quality!
Seen her live, mate. Class :D
Should Qualify that actually I saw her doing sound stage checks and warm ups pre-concert at Pacific Road Arts Centre.
Ditto Kathryn Tickell, the Northumbrian pipes player. An instrument I like to hear played properly, as she does.

Yea, I\'m known for liking female artists best. I get a ribbing sometimes for my fondness for Enya. And I\'ve seen Loreena McKennitt live last year at the Paramount in Oakland. Awesome show! Ive seen Tori Amos live 5 times! :bouncy:

You Lucky Lucky Git.
She\'s only done one show in the UK in recent Years and that was at the Barbican.
Why can\'t she do a show at the MEN Arena?
Now I\'d pay serious money and queue a long time for that. [/quote]
