just saw this topic - hope i´m not too late

@ all : first thanks for all the stuff you posted here - i will definetly have to buy some cd ´s

@ Liz

i thought i recommend some off the german stuff that´s worth listening, besides Rammstein - i always find it said that the only famous german band is so clichee - ridden. so i hope you enjoy it :

In Extremo : Medieval / Metall, great albums , great show
raue see [ wild sea ]

Beatsteaks : kind of a secret tipif you like rock / punk .. i always wonder why they´re not bigger in other countries

Jane became insane

oomph: gothc band ( we got plenty of these ... ) , i like the video for this song - the frankenstein story it tells is nice , especially the part where the monster plays the drums

brennende Liebe [ burning love ]

and of cause there is also :

SEEED ( no spelling mistake ! )
ASP
Die toten Hosen

and besides these german bands there´s also :

glucifer (scandinavian (swedish?) Rock`n` Roll)

AFI ( the album sing the sorrow is symply one of the best albums i know )

The offspring

Pennywise

Me first and the gimme gimmes ( punk band that plays only cover versions, great for karaoke ! )

the mad caddies

NOFX ( only if you´re not republican and pro-bush - you´ll understand once you heard the songs )

weird al yankovic - can´t believe none of you guys mentioned this guy - i love his chrimas song

@ wiccanpony: when i saw you´re avatar and the title of this thread i immediately had this song title in mind

anyway i would really be interested what you guys think about in extremo

I can\'t believe I forgot to recommend Sentenced. I must admit that I almost cried when they played \"End of the road\" at their last gig. Almost. :(

Here\'s a few good songs:

Older, heavier style with their former singer_

...And the last song they made and the last song they played together:

And while I\'m on it, besides the movies, here\'s some music for you as well. I kept the list as diverse as possible, the genres are quite varied.

The New Cool Collective [modern jazz with various influences]
Phil Ochs [singer/songwriter, only the older albums though]
Air [album \"Moon Safari\"]
DJ Shadow
Paul Simon [album \"Graceland\"]
Propellerheads
Tragedy [quite heavy/dark and political]
The Mars Volta
Kodo [Japanese drumms]
and for something more extreme: Atari Teenage Riot

Here are some British bands, just so I\'m not bringing up any you\'ve probably already heard of:

Biffy Clyro
Bullet For My Valentine
Fightstar
Funeral For A Friend
Lightning Seeds
Muse
Suede

Then some of my favourite American bands:

Killswitch Engage
New Radicals
Smashing Pumpkins
Third Eye Blind

Hope there\'s something for you in there!
