Recommendations on 'rusty' primer?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a primer that they use for vehicles that has a sort of rusty color, that when I use alcohol to chip the upper layers off the top, it would like rusted underneath. I live in the US, so if anyone has some brands they could recommend, that would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, I think you can use just about any automotive primer from an auto store that's rust colored. I've got both Duplicolor and Rustoleum rattle cans in my cabinet, both of which I'd be hard pressed to tell apart were it not that one was white and the other is grey.

Be sure to buy automotive primer, however. I've got a can of flat black enamel that I've used as primer before. Works fine on metal minis, but it stayed tacky to the touch on my Reaper Bones (pvc like material). Can't recall exactly what it was (acetone perhaps), but there's a chemical in spray enamel that's not in automotive primer, and that chemical doesn't play well with PVC. Not sure if it would have the same effect on regular GW plastic or any resin, but I personally am staying away from using it with those.

Pretty sure Painter's Touch primer range has a red oxide in the lineup and I think it would stand up to alcohol.

An alternative to the alcohol weathering would be to use the hairspray method, which would mean you wouldn't have to get another primer and could use acrylics as the rusty base colour.

I'll second painters touch. They have a great range of sprays including an Iron oxide red. I do find the red and grey need about 24-48 hours to dry and level completely, where the white and black only required about 8-12 hours.

Seems that when I shake the can for a while, it stops spraying. Yet when I don't shake it, it sprays just fine. Has anyone encountered this kind of problem?
