Red Sonja comics

Fellow barbarian fans will already be aware of the superb Dark Horse Conan series, but there is now a revival of Red Sonja underway. So far only 2 issues have come out and they seem to be having trouble getting the next one out, but here are some links to some covers they have shown for the next few issues. Dynamic Forces is the publisher -

The covers:

Issue 2 cover

My favorite - issue 2 cover \"homage\" to the old Marvel comic

Red Sonja Goes East foil cover

issue 6 cover

WAAAAYYYY over the top issue 5 cover!

Now to hope they get things going properly and get these released!

Hmmn lets see now.....

Impractical clothing,
Uncomfortable looking leg wear,
Sword in the wrong hand,
Sandra Garrity hair style,
A chest that\'s going to give her curvature of the spine,
Good OSL lighting,
And vicious looking beasties threatening her.

What more could you ask for? :D

Those are some sweet ass covers. How is the art work inside? The story?

@ DR - couldn\'t have said it better myself! :)

@ Drake - After one intro issue and one \"real\" issue the story seems to be pretty grim in tone and the interior art is nice. Sonja even makes a comment meant to explain her armor.

Does the story explain why she has put on mascara and eyeliner before going out killing huge monsters? :innocent:

I think it was explained in Issue #2 where she comments on the chain mail bikini. Everyone will be looking at something besides the sword coming at them.

would those be the two in front, behind the mail?

Is the idea that different artists do the cover every time? The cover of issue 2 looks like it\'s by the guy who does the on-line comic strip \"Sex & Violence.\"

Well, they have about 202 different covers listed for every issue, and have the next 5 issues all listed and available for order, yet they can\'t even get issue #2 in the stores yet. According to their site and schedule, issue #4 should be out by now.
I am not very familiar with comics artists as Conan is the only one I get aside from this Red Sonja one, but they seem to have an \"all-star cast\".

LOL!! Last night my fiancee and I were watching the Dungeons & Dragons 2 movie (thank you, Internet) and I made the same comment about the female barbarian character\'s eye makeup. My fiancee made the observation that in preparation for battle, perhaps it was traditional in her tribe to poke herself in the eye with a stick of kohl.
lol

Too bad that they haven\'t got P. Craig Russell (Conan) doing Red Sonja. Perhaps not as much cheesecake for the gents, but I do love his style.
