Hello everyone.

I havnt started on the Melkhior yet, in W.I.P pg, 17. But this because i\'ve been having a time rtying to find the proper cork for the base, but before paint club today I am shopping. Then i can properly assemble, basecoat, then then rock!
Here
Near the bottom, above the Squig.

I can REALLY use references on how to do a dark blade, a black blade.
I am looking for a tute, or picture references of freehand swirls i\'d like to do on his cloak.
And I am still at a loss for how to do the Winged Nigtmare.

I\'ve google imaged searched, but have found nothing that particularily suits my interest.
This is for my first local paint competition entry. I will have a camera to take pics very soon.

Much gratitude
Cesar

for the black blade, have you tried painting it, err, black? just don\'t highlight it too much to keep it loking dark. rather than useing grey to highlight, maybe use brown/red/blue/green to alter the tone.

as for the nightmare, i know these are fell beasts, but they have good paint jobs:

here

and here

and i can\'t help you on the freehand swirls - struggle with them myself

for the cork, try office supply places (Office Depot, Office Max, Staples) don\'t know what you got in the frozen north. they generally come in foot square tiles, four or so tiles to a pack. Or they come in long tubes, like 3 foot by 2 foot.

A glance at the top 10 showed this nice example of a black (or at least very dark) sword:
