Registered Votes Vanished?

Hi there, my spreadsheet is at home so no precise figures, just the gist:

My Gallery has lost most of it's registered votes that I'm able to view as a subscriber to the site. Seems to have happened over the last couple of months. Total number of votes has not changed, just that registered have been shifted to unregistered? Some have lost over 20!

Has some silly bugger been screwing with my scores or has the anti-cheating process eaten my results?

Anyone else noticed an issue or am I alone? I can't be the only one who keeps a record of these things :)

Cheers all, B.

Hey B - I just did a quick search on the voting system to see how it's changed since I posted the stuff in my gallery eons ago. But I'm getting ready to start work and don't have time to sort through a zillion posts. How does registered affect your score vs. unregistered? I saw on the FAQ about vote tracking if you're a registered user but all that does is show what you've voted for previously...or is there something more to it?

My old stuff hasn't changed...actually some of the really old stuff has gone up...go figure. I've never posted just a horse on there, only a couple LOTR characters on horseback (maybe I should toss one of my resins up there just to see). ;) lol!

Sorry I'm confused as usual on a Monday morning. :D

Kat, Reg. vs. Unreg. doesn't affect total score at all, it's just that you get to view the split. I see you're a paid up member so you can see it on yours too. Go to a Gallery pic, scroll down lots & there's a pair of radio buttons to the right that let you toggle overall and/or registered scores on and off (in case you were unaware, it took me a while to realise!).

Registered users can vote twice per image. Allowing you to create half points, or so that you can go back later & tweak. I recently went back to Elly's LotR stuff to bump it up to 8.5 & 9s after my slightly too harsh initial votes. Unregistered voters can score an image as many times as they like although presumably the anti-cheating measures kick in at some point (I have questions/concerns about these but assume that publicising the techniques would weaken the system so I sit in accepted ignorance instead).

Cheers, B.

Okay, I can finally reply to this - I tried a dozen times during my lunch break at work but someone always walked in my office when I started typing.

First, B - holy cow! I never in a million years would have found that! And look how long I've been a member of this site. Sheesh!

Because I started when the voting system was known for...um...significant problems...I would throw a couple of pics up and not worry over them. First, I have no idea who is on the other side of that computer screen clicking the mouse button. I honestly don't give a flying flip what Joe Knownothing thinks of my minis as he sits in front of the PC in his underwear and drinks his beer while farting and scratching.

I do care about those who are in the industry professionally and those who are serious hobbyists who work hard to improve their painting and who love painting as much as I do. Sure, they may sit around just like Joe Knownothing and vote in their underwear while farting and scratching but at least they are Joe Knowsomething or Joe Givesadamn and his half brother John Caresaboutminis.

But since you showed me the link, on one of my best minis, I only have 3 registered voters out of 90+ votes. It's possible Joe Knownothing might actually register but doubtful, odds are greater if they bothered to register, they might be at least Givesadamn but there is no way to tell for sure. ;)

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread here. Thank you for answering my question, B!

Okay - I gotta admit, I'm really curious now. I post my little horse, and one of the first votes she gets is registered user and a 6. Well, we add our own vote when submitting the pictures, I ranked her but it sure wasn't a 6.

I thought registered meant people registered on CMON but lots of folks here have voted and commented but that registered vote remains the same. So it's not mine, it's not my friends. Maybe it's a premium member. I voted on one of BPI's minis that had 0 for registered. It got my vote but the registered stayed the same.

So it's not the submitter, it's not members, it's not premium supporters...who the heck is it? Apparently the definition changed since B lost registered votes, that's the only thing I can think of.

Oh well, you know the saying, curiosity killed the Kat...thank goodness for 9 lives...or maybe it's alchemy... hehehe

Hmmm... really curious. I'll have to have a look see. That can't be right.

Ok, remember the little change I made regarding changes to profile pictures and signatures? The votes of folks entitled to do so (from posting in the forums) weren't being counted. Fixed!

Thanks CA :good: Just had a check, if I go into the individual entry the registered scores appear to be correct (my snotling is showing 27 registered) but the thumbnail pages for my Gallery are showing different information?

Thumbnail view for Snotling followed by actual entry view...
7.0/5.0 81/1 1169 3
7.0/6.5 81/27 1178 3

Still a glitch or does the system just need me to give it more than an hour to catch up with tweaks? :D

Cheers, B.

The galleries update about once an hour, so you should see the correct results soon.

You have me curios now how do you check registered votes? I just payed my year to be a supporting member and I'm not seeing any thing for that yet. Do I have to wait for a site update before it shows?

You might try logging out to clear your cookies and logging back in again. After doing that I saw mine straight away.

I don't know if there is work being done to the site but I can't see any registered votes against any of mine apart from one of mine where I voted when posting it (and it seems to be counting that as the one registered vote). I know a few registered voters said they voted against my Green Knight, but at the moment it is showing no registered votes. I am guessing there might be work being done at the moment?

Did you find the radio button to show the registered counts down on the bottom right? It's so tiny I had a heck of a time finding it even though BPI told me where it was.
