Hey guys,
I wanted to drop in and give you guys a quick update about the status of shipping at this point in time. We just received the containers with the Relic Knights items. Immediately, the very same day, we began staging and building kits (bundling all the individual products into KS faction "box sets"). This is a rather time consuming process considering the complexity of this project, but we should begin shipping as soon as we build all the box set bundles. I know everyone is anxious to receive their products after such a long delay, and we are doing what we can to expedite this process. We want to thank each and everyone of you for supporting the project and your patience. We will post another update when we are actually shipping out products out of the warehouse.

Well, this is interesting, the thread at SPM forums were they where discussing the quality of the miniatures was closed "for going around circles"... looks like they don't want people getting too smart about something... take your guess

If you read the thread its pretty obvious that the conversation had gone off the rails, and several of the people were insulting eachother after being warned that continuing to do so the thread would be locked. Seems clear to me, I'd been expecting it to happen sooner.
Besides, the mod who locked it said they might unlock it when more pictures became available:

Well, it's a heated discussion at some points and it's understandable, and the KS system discussion is off rails, but the mod should have erased those commentaries then, and he is very hypocrite, in his own blog dismiss the user who started the thread as it was pointed out in the conversation. It wouldnt surprise if the mod is not an SPM employee, no matter what he said.
Only thing I'm saying, there were a lot of valid arguments and claims in there, an the lack of response from CMoN and SPM was dissapointing (I didn't expect that from SPM) and I'm getting a little worried about my miniatures now.

I agree that the time it is taking SPM_John to post some pictures of painted minis up is disappointing, but I think that the thread should have been locked awhile ago. There were some good arguments, but there were also a lot more bad ones, like squabbling over who should have read the FAQ and if CMoN and SPM had been lying the whole time, the thread had ceased to be a useful place for discussion and it was closed to avoid emotions running hot for no good reason. I don't think they were worried about people getting too smart or getting upset.
For one, what would the point be? It is too late for a refund at this point, and the models are supposedly going to be shipped soon, what possible gain could they get by trying to hide facts when the quality of the miniatures will be self evident when people have them in their hands? I think the silence and lack of painted pictures has more to due with the company only being a few guys who are really, really busy between gearing up for Relic Knights fullfillment, making sure everything is on track for Forgotten King, and getting ready to launch Bunnies vs Zombies with Ninja Division.
On the blog in question, is it the "oh that Klatu!" post? I don't think he was dismissive of the poster, it seems more like he was trying to be cute and not quite succeeding based on the tone of the article (sort of like a gag from Rowan and Martin's Laugh in). Klatu was the one who started the thread in question, and the mod/blogger was discussing the pictures resulting from that thread. I wouldn't worry too much about the miniatures at this point, the pictures we've seen are of a plastic that doesn't photograph well unpainted. It's the same kind of plastic used by privateer press and sedition wars. The work in progress shots by Minx studios put my mind at ease overall witch just the primed models in the first pic. I definitely want to see more, but I've sort of come to terms that some are going to be great sculpts and some are going to be lack luster, and that's a lesson both CMoN and SPM learned in the process judging by the kickstarters that have come after (WoK for example was very strict with its stretch goals, and Forgotten King curbed its enthusiasm too).

I agree with the Mod for locking the thread, but I am pretty sure that it will never become unlocked again.
I also agree with jamones, that the lack of input from SPM is really sad. Was hoping to see something from John, since he mentioned that he was putting pictures up, but nothing ever came of that. Not really upset about that though, since I know how time can get away from you depending what other projects are happening, and with SPM having their new KS as well as trying to get the retail launch of RK going, I am pretty sure that they are up to their armpits in projects and fires at the moment
That thread even when it started seemed more like people from these forums going over there and starting a complaint thread be cause of this thread and the other RK thread in this section. The timing of the quality thread was just way too coincidental to really be coincidence.

Not really. Timing of the thread occurred because of the update pictures, and then a lack of response on the KS boards. Kaltu brought the discussion to the SPM boards sine there was no response from CMoN or SPM on the KS boards. After that more pictures were posted to the SPM board, those pictures showed a massive lack of detail (either due to the mini quality being poor or the camera being poor, or the camera man being poor, or some combination of each). This lead to more people expressing their concerns, and then the SPM fanbase jumping in stating that the minis were fine, and then they were fine for the price, and then that anyone who didn't think so should have paid better attention to the KS.
Basically it became a squabble of people with concerns vs people who felt that things were fine and no one should be allowed to express those concerns, with the occasional input from people pointing out that we don't know yet why the images were so poor, and we should wait until we have the figs in hand to make a decission.
So, come the end of the conversation, the timing came as a direct result of images supplied to the backers, not as some nefarious scheme from pro CMoN/Anti SPM group.
As Wigdog states, this is a bad scene for both companies, and I am sure that both want to put it behind them and move forward.

in a way CMON did that, by letting the buyout take place. Altough the KS's bad rep remains with cmon, but the rest of the struggle remainst with SPM.
I'm pretty sure that mostly because of SDE's popularity they'll survive, but I wonder if RK will be live in 2 years or not as a game. We saw there are a few extra units, that were not in the KS and they already have at least a master, so they'll be released sooner or later, but how many of the backers will buy and how many new people will start? that's a question for the future.
It'll be very sad to see the game die in 2 years and the backers with a truckload of minis, and if they are not as good as they say, the minis won't even serve for modelling purpuses either.

Swan, why can't you accept that this was a clandestine plot and that these minis will in fact turn into Restic Golems once you get them in your house and they will raid your supply drawer and steal your files and hobby knives and cut and scrape the details from every other mini you own? That was stated in the FAQ and if you didn't read it then it is your fault!

Now ones that would clean up and paint themselves, would be awesome. Paint every unpainted mini to a good quality they can find would be even more so.

For those who have not received a tracking number yet, do you have a packing slip or anything in your pledge manager? The only thing mines says is order "confirmed".

At the moment it looks like they are only shipping to the USA, rest of world still seems to be at the factory in china so if your not in the US don't expect a tracking number. Once again coolmini and soda pop give the finger to anyone not in the US.

even better, shipping to the eu changed from air to slowboat, so about 2 months after everything is packed in the chinese factory (so around end of september).
I asked this on the SPM forums too, but maybe someone from CMON reads this thread and can answer:
If something is missing/horribly miscast/broken/whatever who should I contact ? CMON or SPM ?
Because of Eu shipping by the time I get the pack, the remaining stock should be transferred to SPM according to what was written, so while I think CMON should be responsible I'm not sure they'll have the stock of extras to deliver the needed replacements / fixes.
(and no I don't really thrust packing in china to be 100% flawless, even if they do it right there can be errors, to err is human after all)
