Removing metal from feet

I want to get rid of this metal strip under the feet of the mini because I want to place it on a base that is covered with tiles. Because it\'s impossible to put the tiles on after the mini has been glued to the base (and create a realistic look of the mini really standing on the tiles), I want glue the mini with his directly to the tiles.

Any advice on how to remove these things from my models?

Cut the middle section out with a pair of cutters. Then either cut the bits away under the feet as close as you want with your cutters or a fine jewellery saw. Any leftovers can be filed off.

If this is the part designed to go into the slot in the plastic base, then take a pair of wire-cutters and snip the middle out so all you have is a piece sticking down directly under each foot. From there I suggest you file it until it is not so much a flat, squarish piece but try to make it a stick that is thinner than the foot (1 for each foot). Then drill holes in the base and insert the sticks into the holes. That will be a much stronger bond than just flattening the bottoms of the feet and gluing them to the base. Another alternative would be to cut them as small as possible then file the bottoms of the feet flat and drill a hole in them to pin them to the base but the first way gives you a built-in pin.

I thought of the wire-cutters before, but my only concern is that the model\'s legs may be bent when performing this...

The legs shouldn\'t actually receive any strain while cutting (if you do it right). In fact you could do it without holding the mini at all. The jaws of the cutters gripping the slotta will do fine. For the second cut you may want something to catch the mini if you do this. Oh, and wear eye protection in case the scrap bit flies off.

It is known the Evil One (Jen Haley) does this, but instead of gluing the mini to the base and priming it, she sticks the wire from the foot into a cork and paints is seperatly. You may want to do this, as the tiles will be nice and clean and you won\'t have to go back and blend those nice boots again...

BTW are you a Corvus brachyrhynchos or Corvus corax?

But actually, I read in a book on the Corvidae family that the feathers are either \"charcoal\" which is a glossy black or \"sooty\" which has a purple sheen to it. Might use that one day in painting something black.
