Replacement for Silver

I\'ve just noticed that once the matt varnish is applied, silver and gold is no longer the same. I\'ve found a solution for gold, but does anyone here have a replacement for silver?

I mean are there people who never use metallic paints? Is there any advantages?

Thanks!

matt varnish makes metalics look like nmm as it is killing of the reflective qualities of the metal flakes.

paint the metals after varnishing :)

I use GW\'s Golden Yellow and Blazing Orange. I just don\'t know what color to use for Silver.

Sorry, you use them how?

Just glaze over them after varnishing?

Mr. Poleaxe up there speaks some pretty good sense! I really should pay attention to him.

Before varnish. It looks better than plain gold.

I basically just go over metallics with some brush-on gloss varnish if they get dulled too much by matt spray-on... works fine.

Actually the gloss varnish doesn\'t give the same reflective qualities as the metal flakes do. It makes the sword look more wet than anything else. I know vallejo sells a metallic medium, which is just metal flakes in a clear liquid. Just paint that on your metal parts after you varnish and it works pretty decently to bring back some of the metallic qualities.
