That is a nice model, I\'ve never seen one before.

He looks a little monchrome for my tastes, but he looks convincing :D

While I\'m not opposed to the monochromatic scheme, I think the mini has ended up looking a bit flat. I think that when painting with such a limited palette, value and contrast must be pushed so that the different areas are distinct and distinguishable. Good job otherwise though, and welcome back so to speak.

I like it and think it looks really \"Old Photograph\" kind of in a way. Cool fig that I hadn\'t seen before too!

Great mini, new to me too.

I like the limited chromatic range (lots) but as with Squig it looks a little flat to me - not quite enough highlighting or shadowing. Now some of that could be the photos; looking at the images I have a niggling sense that this would look a good bit better in the flesh.

This is from the Reaper Chronoscope line - http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Chronoscope/release - Hit\'s and miss\'s there but worth a look.

@Enion/Squig - I agree, it did flatten in the photo. Some paint jobs are strong and bold enough to punch through but this one needed 100% of what is there IRL or it suffers.....and it does. I tried to Photoshop it back and came close but just couldn\'t recapture that last 3% that \'does it\'....oh well...

Errrr..............I looked at it on another monitor and it looked REALLY flat so I did a little more Photoshoping and this looks better. The background was draining a lot of the subtly from the grays also.

Shawn, if you can you post one of the unmodified images from the camera (or email it to me) I\'ll take a look at it.

how can all you guys not have seen this mini???
it\'s one of bobby jacksons best sculpts in my opinion, and i love the gears of war style...
this guy and the chain gunner are 2 of the best 1 piece sculpts out there...

i\'ve got this same guy on my workbench right now, and doin\' him in black and greay too, but not in a monochrome style...
more in a staight off the cover of gears of war 2 style...

i like what you tried to do here, but this guy is so loaded with detail (armour plates, straps, pouches, etc.), that it is hard to appreciate the sculpt with such a subtle paintjob...

good to see you painting again...

cheers
