Resin Miniatures (Ilyad)

I just received a bunch of Ilyad stuff which are made of resin.

I was wondering if there\'s anything different about pre-paration, undercoated, painting of resin kits or can I go ahead pinning, superglueing and treat it as a plastic miniature?

That\'s basically all there is to know, except that plastic glue won\'t work on them, so superglue is your only solution. Also, you might want to wash them first to clean off the release agent.

I\'m so annoyed about Ilyad dying - their minis are so so nice..

Ilyad minis don\'t need washing, it seems. I\'ve tried several times to just prime after cleaning and assembling and it works just fine. But generally, it\'s a good idea to wash resin stuff.

Yeah, I never had any problem with them too, but I prefered to state it just in case .

If you file them for Gods sake dont breathe in the dust.

Yeah make sure you use a dust mask or something when you sand as the dust is very very bad for you.
Also if you have some thickish superglue.(i use zap a gap) it is useful for filling any bubble holes you might get.If you have any bent pieces you can soften the resin in hot water and bend it to shape.

Great tips - though I didn\'t use a mask and actually saw\'d the whole base off of one... I even got some in my mouth.

Seem to be in 1 piece however. *phew*

I was going to ask about filling holes but most Japanese resin modellers use Mr Hobby (Sangyo Gunze) stuff. I\'ll pick some of that up since there are a few bubbles on the piece I have.

You can use watered down milliput (or similar) to fill the bubble holes as well. Make sure you use a sandable putty, though.

Now, if your a dumbass like me then don\'t bother wearing the dust mask thingie. I removed some asbestos from my basement recently, for protection I smoked a cigarette while working with it figuring the smoke particles would counteract the asbestos particles (OK, I don\'t actually belive that but it was a good enough reason to light one in the house). Resin dust is supposed to be a carcenogenic thingie (bad spelling most likely, but you know... cancer causing stuff).
