Resin Water

hi all,
well, its been occuring to me lately that games day is just around the corner, and ive completed nothing in six months. so, for want of a btetr term, im pretty screwed. despite this im gonna have a go and do any entry anyway.
my basing plan is to have about of cm of resin water submerging the character up to the knees or so. it will be a murky jungle river, with reeds and such sticking out of it. ive read arkanseth\'s(sp) article on this, but im stil not generally 100% on it. does anybody know a UK available resin?
does anybody know of aany possible problems with this?
does anybody have anygeneral tips?

I\'ve been recommended Envirotex Lite, which is available in the UK HERE. I haven\'t tried it yet (I have a pack on my shelf, just waiting for the right project), but from the instructions it seems pretty straightforward. You should be able to follow Akaranseth\'s tutorial using it.

Second this. It\'s brilliant stuff, easy to use and provides great results. Not overly cheap (but which two part resins are?).

thanks guys, looks good, anybody have any idea how id put plants in it? also, any ideas on how i cud make a box for a 40mm base. would heating and bending plasticard work?

Don\'t know about those specifics Hestan but go to Bruce Hirst\'s site Hirst Arts. He\'s got some great tips in his projects sections for using Envirotex Lite.

This bit (Water Laugh) should answer some of your questions but scout around for more answers.
ps - remember to scroll down for specific tips on using the product!

Never used it so can\'t say for definite, but the \'problem\' I foresee with GW\'s water effects is you can only \'lay down\' 2-3mm at a time, so if you want anything with any depth you need to do multiple layers. This isn\'t really an issue with two-part epoxy. I also think there\'s a shrinkage issue with the GW stuff.

Most single part water effects stuff shrink like yer best Iron Maiden T-Shirt in a boil wash!

Two part epoxy types are by far the best, \'damming\' them is easy in theory but difficult in reality. The resins take 24 hours to harden but 36 to FULLY harden. They will also find the smallest hole and dribble through them sticking your project to any surface. I used Acetate to produce the dam because you can peel it off once cured, I then used WoodLand scenics \'Scenic water\' to seal the joins. You could just use PVA (white glue) to seal it. You also need to brace the acetate because it will sag and set in some very odd shapes!

Epoxy resins are easy enough to colour with weathering powders or inks to produce nice murky swamp water.

Never done water effects with depth but I\'ve recommended Envirotex Lite a few times in the past, good to see it\'s available over here now.
