Resolutions

Ok, someone has to post it. It\'s been hanging out there like a black cloud waiting, knowing we would get into it sooner or later.

What are your New Years Resolutions?

<sigh> Mine are

1. Lose enough weight to look like a reasonable person

2. Somehow make it to Europe

3.Get my house in order in both the literal and figurative senses

4.Help my family be less dependant on me (Mr C retrained in braile and anything else he can learn and Alex mobile and financially independant)

5.Take time out to do what I enjoy doing no matter what.

Ok, that\'s done. I usually don\'t make resolutions but I feel it\'s a good year for it in 2008 because not doing so and following though made 2007 far more difficult than it needed to be.

What are your resolutions?

look into buying a house.
paint and complete something! and hopefully enter a comp

My only resolution is to get hired on the police force.

Which means I should probably also resolve to quit smoking the Krunk of the Dankest Nug.

I\'m already very aware I\'m far better at making lists of things to do than I am at ticking off the tasks on them. So no resolutions for me.

Well, I need to pace myself a lot better than I have in 2007, in order to stabalize my health and then hopefully it will gradually improve. It will take a long time but I have to start somewhere. There\'s nothing else I can make resolutions for as it\'s pretty much all dependent on that one.

last years was to actually learn to play my guitar well that i\'ve had for 10 years.
the one before that was to lose weight.

they were both succesfull in that i did lose weight and learn guitar but neither one did well enough for me to be happy.

so i\'ll do them both this year. get down to at least 100 kg and learn some of the harder songs of been working on.

Well, before I post mine, let\'s have a look at last year\'s resolutions and see how I did:

2007 New Year\'s resolutions:

1) Get my butt back into the gym. I got lazy in the last few months and I\'ve started to turn a bit soft again.
Nope, didn\'t make it. In fact, I put on a few extra pounds.

2) Find a day job. Tired of working nights and not getting to spend time with my daughter.
Done. I\'m now working (mostly) days as a Distribution Manager for the local newspaper.

3) At least entertain the idea of dating again. Not saying that I\'ll actually date anyone, but I\'ll at least think about it.
Done. Big time.

4) Improve my painting skills and enter at least two painting contests.
Done. Didn\'t win any of the contests that I entered, but I\'d like to think that my painting skills have improved since I placed 4th in one contest this past year.

2008 New Year\'s resolutions

1) Lose the damned weight!
2) Place in the top 3 of a painting contest
3) Permanently kick my smoking habit (I\'ll quit for a while, have one or two and then quit again)
4) Do the best I can

Hinton, for #3, I suggest looking into Chantix. I smoked on/off (mostly on) for 16 years, and I took it for a month. After day 9, I had 0 urges for a smoke. I\'m successfully smoke-free now, and happy about it :)

You\'ll need a Rx, so talk to your doctor about it.

Cool; thanks for the info. I\'ll check it out.

I find plenty of food all the time is the best way to quit. Enjoying food again is a really nice plus point about not smoking for me.

Mind you, I\'m quite an on and off smoker. I stopped a few weeks ago, just because I could. The problem for me is that I find it really easy to stop. If I decide I don\'t want to smoke any more then I won\'t smoke any more. I guess I do get nicotine pangs a little, mostly I just miss the process, but screw that beating me. I can be pretty stubourn when I want to be.

My brother has been smoking spliffs all Christmas too. Normally I\'d have been joining him (I tend to smoke cigs as a weed substitute) but I\'ve just decided not to and I haven\'t touched that either.

Because it really isn\'t hard for me to stop though, if I do decide to smoke again for whatever reason I\'ll start up again with no qualms about it. I may just get a pipe or something, so if I do weaken to the desire to smoke some herb I can do it without involving cigs in any way.

I used Magnets.
They pinch your ear and help replace the desire for smoking, and then you put them on your lobe to help curb appetite.
I quit smoking, AND didn\'t balloon up like 89% of quitters.
I sell them on ebay now. Helps being a living example....can\'t think of a better testimony. Or if you\'re in a pinch, and you aren\'t allergic to metals, use some magnets like use use for miniatures. Just make sure they are strong, and they should be about 1/8th of an inch in diameter.
Could work?

I\'ve already lost 120 pounds without a resolution. Just got a physical job.
I\'ve improved in my painting skills.
I\'ve started doing proper conversions.
I\'ve started trying to sculpt again with better results.
I bathe daily.

What do I need a resolution for?
Hell, I\'m PERFECT!

Well, maybe I could try to be a bit more humble...

Get into a better sleeping pattern. At the moment I go to bed at about 4am and it wrecks me for getting up early for college.
Sometimes I have even just stayed up all night then went to college as I knew if I went to sleep I wouldn\'t get up at 7am lol

And if I go to bed early I just can\'t get to sleep. I just need to gradually reduce the time down to a more sensible 12-1am.
