@Rev: I really enjoy the poses on your new vetrans. Using the missile launcher hand to cradle the axe is a nice touch. I am always happy when I see someone bring motion to the usually static GW minis. Good work.

@ Misterjustin:

I must be honest I actually pinched that pose from (i think) one of the chapter master entries? looks quality tho huh!

@ Gobbo:

Having finished the eldar army - which took friggin ages due to a high maintenance scheme i wanted something easier which also looked nice.

I went into my local GW (cambridge) and they were speed painting raptors for some campaign (taros?!) and using OGRE flesh spray as a basecoat and i thought \'wicked i\'ll pinch that idea...\' As i like the raptors \'military green\' style scheme.

i wanted it to be slightly more interesting though, while remaining simple - so its simply this:

1) undercoat ogre flesh spray

2) catachan green wash

3) 1 highlight 50/50 catachan green & snakebiteleather

4) 1nd highlight 25/75 catachan green & snakey.

I started using GWs but prefer valejjo game colour in general so have just ordered the equvilent colours from valejjo.

hope that helps!

great poses on your marines but i the armour could use some depth, or perhaps you should pick out the details, using other colours..

wood grain

Just tried out mickc22\'s woodgrain technique

Woodgrain article

what do u think?

1) before glaze:

2) after glaze

Used slightly different paints as i didnt have all those mickc22 used,

i went for

1) base coat GW scorched brown and a little black

2) layer 1-3 bubonic brown 3:1

3) highlight graveyard earth

4) 2:1 wash with 828 woodgrain (or wookgrain as my bottle says..)

what do u reckon?!

The wood grain looks ok. Thinner lines for the grain would be better though. And clean those flash lines! Naughty naughty.

Hehe, when i saw the guy with the bolters the matrix soundtrack poped into my head.
The wood grain effect looks good, I\'d place the lines closer together, but thats probably just more of a personal preference. nice! :)

Dont know much about mark 4 armour but your bases are looking sweet. Not very 40k but original. Great stuff and your green work on the armour looks good.

Thought i\'d give a bionic leg a try.

For fluff reasons, he also slipped on carpet and sprained his ankle.

Your sculpting work is fantastic!!! I really like the different armour and helmet types and those bases-wow!

HAve been looking at the finished vet sgt pic for a good 5 minutes cause something bothers me about it- he just doesn\'t look or feel finished IMHO.

I think you really do need to pick out a few more details on him- he\'s just too green looking (even with a very nice wooden powerfist!) If it was my model, I would have painted the circley bit on his chest and belt to look like gems (probably the LAST thing you want to paint after all those gorgeous eldar though!) and would also paint the skull helmet to look like bone.

Just my opinion, but hope it helps. I usually don\'t like to pass criticism on to painters who are more talented than me as its a bit hypocritical to say the least, but I really do think it would improve the model so much.

I sort of agree with the above comment...there are some things that look a little unfinished however the rate you are knocking excellent conversions out is fantastic..The Bionic is looking cool..
Maybe a grey to break up on the details but as a group I bet they look fantastic..
