I don\'t even have to view that link to know it\'s the cheese regurgitated by live maggots...? Am I right?! ???

Hmm, lutefisk isn\'t that bad, and neither is svið (lit. burnt) which is also sheeps head, which is cooked with flamethrowers (how awesome is that? lol) and then you buy it and heat it up. Iceland has it\'s fair share of \"disgusting\" foods, such as:

Hrútspungar - Pickled rams testicles (note, I have not eaten this)
Kæst skata - skate that is buried and allowed to rot for up to three months, is then dug up and cooked (not terribly pleasant)
And a variety of \"soured\" foods, including whale.

I\'m not real fond of liver or giblets. I don\'t really like \"sour\" foods like the ones Squiggy was talking about. I loath chitterlings. No one should eat boiled pig intestines. If they aren\'t clean spotless and stuffed with sausage meat intestines should be fed to the dogs.

Well here\'s my two pence worth on tomatoes:-
Under-ripe they give me severe and crippling indigestion even when cooked.
Plus I detest the usage of 92% Tomatoes in all commercial pre-manufactured \"Italian\" foods. It\'s just a cheap con.
A couple of Cherry tomatoes and I\'m happy with that.

i love nice juicy tomatoes, in a salad or on their own; the way they were meant to be eaten. i however deteste them when mashed up and brutalised into a \'sauce\':|~

Why, just why?

I can understand that there are historical origins for some oddball foods, for famine times or during long hard winters, that sort of thing. But why the heck continue if the result tastes bad or might even be dangerous? *shudder*

Steak tartare is quite nice. Raw beef is actually quite nice period... in small quantities. I don\'t think I\'d want to eat more than a small serving of tartare, maybe a couple of spoonfuls.

Here in California there is a lake called Mono Lake that has A LOT of flies. Am told the Indians used to have them as part of their diet........gaakkk

But you won\'t have trouble locating the life which has adapted to the lake\'s harsh conditions. Alkali flies crowd the shore in the summer. Don\'t worry, the alkali flies are shy. They don\'t like people and they won\'t bother you. Look under water, near shore, and you\'ll see them walking, enclosed in air bubbles. The ranger will show you the fly larva and pupa stages on the submerged rocks. Birds eat the adult flies and the larvae. The Paiute Indians used to harvest the abundant pupae, too. Would you like to taste one? It\'s a new experience you may not want to miss. This was a staple of the local Indians\' diet, and a valuable item for trade to other Indians.

Tomatoes, uncooked. Don\'t like the texture.
Brussel Sprouts. Can\'t stand them. Hate the smell, hate the taste, but they work well as substitute golf balls, when you\'re desperate.

Anything in red wine sauce. It offended my taste buds in ways beyond my ability to describe. My \'restrained and trying not to offend\' reaction involved gagging and making a number of strange noises usually not encountered in humankind.

There\'s prolly a genetic reason you dont like Brussel Sprouts -

Fish of any sort.

Other than that, I\'ll try most things once - except Balut.

Good topic! :D

Anyone else watch that show on Travel Channel called Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmer? I love that show! That guy eats lots of nasty things.

I\'m not that picky of an eater.

I cannot stand seafood however. I do like a can of tuna every now and again, or fish and chips (anything that\'s battered and fried is good) but anything else and I get sick. Can\'t stand the smell.

I also do not like red cabbage, soft cheeses such as brie, raw onions, raw peppers (though cooked bell peppers are quite good), and those bean sprout things that chinese shops always add to lo mein noodles.
