Now that finals are done, and I\'m out of classes for a while, maybe I can get some painting done.

Here\'s the latest work with my newfound \"tweening\" technique. I just love that word! ;)

Anyway, comments are greatly appreciated. I\'ll try to do up an article with some step-by-step pix for this tweening thing.

Bad link, you don\'t have to put an id there.. CA has made CMON easier to browse by making shortcuts to all the things in the addressbar. You had to to cmon.com/?id=35154 but now just 35154 :D

But that guy looks amazing, really good NMM and a great cloak. Only thing I can see that\'s a bit \"wrong\" is that maybe the scratches on the armor need some more highlighting as well as the woodgrain on the axe handle. The color is a bit weird.. should be darker, with more highlighting. IMHO.

Voted 8.5(8 and 9 ;) )

Dang, that was a fast reply! I fixed the link, and when I refreshed, this was here. ;)

Thanks for the comments. I worked for a while on the handle, and just couldn\'t get happy with it, so basically said \"good enough.\" I may get around to trying some more highlight, but I need to pick up a new brown or two. ;) I may touch up some of the scratches, hitting the edges with some more white, now that you mention it.

I especially like the dirt on his weapon and cloak. In fact, the entire weapon blade has been painted very well.

I love that blade!!! That\'s beautiful! It\'s the most realistic looking NMM I\'ve seen so far, and the stained cloak is also great looking.

The blade is amazing :D just love it...

And the dirt on the cloak looks great.

But the armor is a bit to clean.. try to give it some dirt like on the blade and maybe some more highlights.

Great work. My score: 8,5.

Tweening is my current favorite word.

This article explains the basis of the idea, and is what I\'ve been babbling about for a little while now: http://www.planetfigure.com/articles/jaume_face_eng.pdf

It also seems that our own Arkall (aka Ark, aka Thierry Husser, former Rackham painter) does this technique, according to some of the posts over in the English Confrontation forum. I haven\'t heard anything directly from Thierry, however, confirming this, but looking at his work it\'s highly likely that he\'s very practiced with this idea, if he is using it. ;)

I\'ll try over the break here to post an article here on CMoN explaining my take on it, with some step-by-steps.

Thanks, everyone, for the comments!

Awesome work on the NMM on that figure! I\'m just downloading the link to the article, sounds very interesting, and your result certainly speaks for itself.
The only thing I can criticise about your work is the fact that the wooden handle of the scythe looks quite flat. Other than that, it\'s outstanding.

Cheers, Isis

The only parts that really look 3D are the NMM ones which look good with the blade being especially well done(I\'ve tried the tweening, looked bad, you wanna come over one evening and show me?). But the rest, the cloak and the scythe handle seem really flat in comparison.
A 9 for the blade, an 8 for the other metal parts and a 6 for the rest.
