Rich or Famous?

MPJ--I\'m not really sure where you were going with your response to my statement but all I was trying to convey is that Heath Ledger had all of the hassles of being famous but he didn\'t have as much money as one would think, in fact he was very much average in terms of his worth.

I was trying to make the point that I\'d rather have anonymity and money than fame, the hassles that go with it and really no money. I mean heck right now I suppose I\'d be worth over $130k because I just bought a house. But . . . I wouldn\'t want to have paparazzi following me around or anything right now. At least if you were famous and had money you could buy yourself protection.

Who are the four OTHER people who voted for \"nameless option\"? lol

It may be my socialist heart talking but I think being \"rich\" usually leads to becoming really weird and/or unpleasant, unless one has exceptional strength of character. \"Comfortable\", I could handle. But I have little willpower so being truly wealthy could be very hazardous for me.

Fortunately it\'s not something that\'s ever likely to happen.

Well I guess that would depend on your definition of rich though NSA. To me rich is having a few hundred thousand around. Not necessarily millions. And with that money I\'d be more apt to help out family and friends in need. Nor would I live extravagently. I\'d pay off my car, maybe trade in for a brand new model, pay off the house and get hardwood floors and other upgrades in the kitchen but otherwise I\'d just be able to have more fun in life.

Rich to me is having everything paid off and being able to move where I want and do what I want and pay cash (keep in mind I\'m probably the definition of lazy).

a-ditto! As long as everything is paid off, I have a little extra fundage to make life easy but can do as I please that\'s rich in my book! I don\'t need to buy the copy french chanteaux down the street from me in order to consider myself rich. In fact that\'s just disgustingly rich at that point.

I\'d settle for enough money which I\'m able to buy my self a new guitar and new car if I\'m honest. So if I was to say, a Jimmy Page signature Gibson Les Paul that\'s £30,000 and erm a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder which is erm..... well a lot, then I\'d say anything short of £400,000 would do me pretty well.

But atmo I\'d love to just get £1000.

Definately rich. Famous people have too little privacy. If I was Famous (chances are I would also have money), all my money would be paid out in lawsuits cuz I keep hitting the Papparazzi for some reason... with my car.

Maybe in the next life.

I\'ll go for rich, but I probably wouldn\'t stay that way for long. There\'s taxes, there\'s charity, there\'s taxes, there\'s bills, there\'s taxes, there\'s the family\'s bills, there\'s taxes, there\'s trusts for the kids, there\'s taxes, there\'s accountant and lawyers fees, there\'s taxes...

And I\'d like to finally build my house, nothing crazy, 4 or 5 bedroom ranch style on the 6 acres we already own, and I\'d like to buy hubby a new truck. Oh yeah, then there would be more taxes...:|~

Seriously though, I just want to be comfortable. I don\'t really want to be rich. I want hubby and I to be happy and secure in our jobs, bills covered, kids taken care of, 401k doing well, savings for the kid\'s colleges, and enough in our savings for emergencies and unexpected expenses. A vacation once in a while would be nice, too.
