Yes.. the man who brought us D&D and perhaps made minis a household word is dead.

You can read about HERE.

Fare thee well, oh greatest of Dungeon Masters. :(

Great job Markus. I tried to post it and I was told I couldn\'t edit my post. ???

The end of an era.

wow. stunned shock.

I met him once at DalCon many years ago. At one of his breaks, he came over to an empty table that a few of us were sitting at and just shot the breeze for a while.

I told him he probably saved me from drugs as I would rather buy D&D stuff than drugs and couldn\'t afford both. He got a big chuckle out of that.

EGG finally took the ultimate plane shift.

Godspeed.

It was opening easier earlier - its being quoted all over the web right now on Gamer sites, so that site is probably being swamped.

One of the members there is apparently Gary\'s son, so I think that site got the news first. :(

Never met him but like many I walked the paths he laid out in all the work he did.Sad day though on the bright side if there is a heaven when we get up there he will have worlds of mages and monsters to play with when its our time.

Sorry to hear the news. He was a fantastic Vice Presidential Action Ranger. He always had a +1 mace when you needed to fend off monsters and robots.

Bad jokes aside, I hope his family is getting on okay.

Somehow it seems to me that he was a little young to pass on, but then again, maybe not. He has made huge contributions to the world of fantasy and enriched the lives of people of all ages. I wish his family peace.

D&D had a great deal of impact on my formative years. Hearing of his death saddened me.

Then I read the top post on page 2 of the Troll Lord Games forum (linked from the top post in this thread.) /smile

Thanks for the link, Airhead - at least they spoke well of him.

Thats so rare in the news these days.

He had a booth at a convention that I was working at a few years ago. I was a little bit giddy and awestruck. So much so that I didn\'t have the guts to go and say hello to him. I just couldn\'t muster the courage. This is was the father of all that I enjoy after all. I wanted to tell this to him.

This is now one of the biggest regrets in my life.

Besides my parents, probably the one person who\'s had the single most impact on me in my formative years.

God rest a Legend.
