Rise of the archmage

Hi there!

This is what I\'m working on at the moment, both a mounted and a foot version of the new plastic HE mages. I couldn\'t resist using the same head and staff on both miniatures, I thought they were so superior to the others. The head reminds me of teclis, only less extravagant. I just love working with these plastic miniatures!

Any feedback or criticism is of course appreciated!

Dude, VERY nice. The color scheme is great and I love the freehand. How are you planning on painting the horse?

Thank you =)

The horse will be grey and it\'s cloth similar to the mage with golden freehand on blue background. The mage on foot is actually finished, I just have to wait for the water base to dry, then I\'ll upload more pictures!

Kris

Looks fantastic! Can\'t wait to see this finished.

The face does seem to lack a little shading compared to the rest of the mini. But that\'s just me :)

Good grief that\'s bloody gorgeous!

The freehand work is amazing. Is that fringe I see on the inside of the cloak?

Love the paintscheme, really gives another atmosphere to the mini, as for the mounted mage, I\'m looking forward on seeing it finished.

I absolutely LOVE your painting, your freehand is just beautiful.

I hope you don\'t mind me saying this, but the dapple gray horse is a little off IMHO. The dapples are beautiful, but are very evenly spaced and too consistent in color. Very rarely do horses have dapples on their face.

A dark gray horse with white dapples is called a resist dapple. They have a tendency to turn lighter as they get older.

I\'m not really sure about the entire muzzle being pink. Pink skin only happens with white markings. Completely white horses are usually gray, white hair on black skin. But they can also have white markings. They can be hard to see, you have to get up close enough to see the skin.

But this guy is what I think you might be going for:

I really hope you don\'t mind my suggestions. I think your painting is absolutely beautiful - I\'m a huge fan!

Kat
