Robbie The Rabbit

As a means to rehabilitate my sculpting hand after an unfortunate accident I'm sculpting this guy:

This fairground mascot appears in the Silent Hill video game series.

I made some reference sketches:

...and prepared a (very) basic armature:

I've only got as far as fleshing out:

I'm trying to be a bit more mathematical with this project as I want my sculpt to be a faithful representation of the character.

Cool, I've always been a fan of the Silent Hill series. Are you going to paint it as well?
And watch the size of the head, it's proportionally a tad larger in the original reference than in any of your concepts and reference sheet. The large head adds to the surrealism of the figure, also signifying that it's actually a costume helmet. And don't forget, the nose of course is triangular. ;)

To help, let me show you a trick to easily get 'accurate' proportions:
the top part of the head is roughly four times the width of his eyes wide, including the slight angular tilt (which is about 15 degrees). The eye is exactly as wide as a leg.
The spacing between the eyes is just a little less than one eyewidth. (it is three with humans, lessening this space adds to the 'cuteness').
The eye is almost as heigh as the length of the leg to the ankle (right at where the leg curves inwards to form the crotch).
The forehead is 3/4 of an eyeheight above the eye.
From the chin, the head is 3 eyeheights.

Hope that helps, good luck!

Bloodhowl: haha! Thanks! Glad you like so far...

Garshnak: well spotted. Good observations there. I've prepared a new reference sketch (photo to follow as I just spilled my water over it...).

I've done a little more structural work to the head and started work on the right ear.

In a word, yes! I'm currently in the process of finishing a couple of original sculpts which I hope to become my first cast miniatures:

As something of a trial run I intend to cast a number of resin Robbies, the first of which I plan to paint and auction for charity (watch this space). The arms and ears will be sculpted and cast as seperate pieces: the arms out of neccessity and the ears simply as these are the kind of detail I've seen break on resins in the post.

Following advice on another forum I've decided to continue this sculpt as a single piece.

This piece had taken a bit of a break in the panic before the minisculpture.co.uk competition but should now be finished in no time at all. The seperate components were just slowing me down.

Nice , love him - you should of added him holding a big chopper :)

Cheers! Glad you like. I'm getting some resin casts produced so I may well convert one or two just for the hell of it! I've seen some larger scale sculpts (~6in) of him holding an axe. My version is 40mm tall.
