Despit the sheer number of oop rogue trader (GW) models i see on ebay week in, week out how come i never really see them on here?

A wild guess would be that those who buy them are either a) collectors, b) people who buy them for the nostalgia, or c) gamers. People who are painters, foremost, might prefer to paint newer SM models with more detail. But, as I said, it\'s just a guess and I really don\'t know...

I\'ll cast my vote for \"purchased by obsessive collectors who don\'t paint them, or who paint like a three-year-old, and therefore don\'t show their minis here\".

Not that you shouldn\'t show your minis here if you are not a good painter (yet) :)

I have to agree with Ritual on prefering to paint new stuff. I have a score of Rogue Trader minis, particularly Space Marines, and they just aren\'t worth the effort of a good paint job. I did try to get into one that I used to love a while back and it was such a struggle to make them look good that I gave up.

i was just wondering \'cause i have a fair amount of these and was wondering if people didnt put them up due to other people badvoting them

Frankly... if you have RT minis, screw the votes. They will not get the same consideration as a shiny new Wolfen from most people. Frankly, most aren\'t the same caliber sculpt as a shiny new Wolfen but that\'s not the point. They\'re still cool. Some of us would love to see them. Post them!!! :D

I think you\'ll find that as with most genres, retro minis have their own supporters around here ;) Also, don\'t worry about what scores you\'re going to get when you post. The scores generally even out to a good indication of your standard rather than taste in minis and the feedabck you get will make it worthwhile.

Of course, you could use thew WIP forum to get feedback before posting it for votes if you prefer.

True, I\'ve seen some sculpts that I absolutely despise, painted well. I scored them appropriately high in spite of the crummy sculpting. It does take more work to make some of these ancient figs look good. I\'ve got 2 boxes of old-timey Star Frontiers (100% lead) figs that I just can\'t make myself paint. :(

It\'s not the scores that bother me about painting old school stuff! I just can\'t be arsed painting a poorly sculpted, badly detailed mini, when there\'s so much good new stuff out there. Of course, there are good old-school sculpts, but IMO the RT era minis aren\'t among them.

My way of looking at this is by thinking about minis in the same way I think about people. Each one is an individual and I try not to generalise based on age, bakground, origin etc but on each individual\'s merits.

i love painting old school stuff :)
the down side is the extra time it takes to make it look decent.

it\'s so much easier with crisper detail that you get nowadays.
unless it\'s that plastic bloody skulls pass dwarf

Wow! You could be the Human Resources director for unemployed miniatures. Are you running for office?

...just a bit smaller than average and made of metal but still people dammit! ;)

What about the plastic minis? Are you some kind of \"metal power\" radical? That\'s not very PC.

Our full policies regarding the treatment of Plastic and Minority Media minis (including but not restricted to plastic, resin, GS, jelly etc) is yet to be fully ratified but let me assure you that it is our intention to fully integrate, wheresoever possible and practicable, these individuals and communities into our fully diverse and inclusive culture with equality of opportunity and representation therewith.

The old daemon hunters?

I have a few of those old RT era figures still to paint and I think they are JUST as good as anything being sculpted now!

As soon as I get round to starting/finishing them I\'ll post!! Lol :D

the old daemon hunters are funky with the 2 haand force weps, i think u can still get them from G.W. uk online store under classics and collectorsclassics and collectors

I myself often wonder where all the old minis are. They have so much more character than the new minis.

I have a fair share of RT marines painted up in my gallery. I probably have around 30 or more to go, though. I feel by this time the minis deserve their retirement with really sweet paintjobs. Hehe.
