Rogue Trader

The Ghost

Ok so me and some people I know have been playing Dark Heresy and one of the guys got a copy of Rogue Trader which he showed to everyone. I gotta say the game looks sweet but I was wondering if anyone on here had played it and if so what they thought. For me the 60$ cost is a big investment and I wanted to know if I would get my money's worth.

Rogue Trader RPG or Dark Heresy RPG

Hi there

having been a playtester for both, I personally prefer DH, but RT does have some interesting things... although they are both in the 40k universe both use same core rules, they are different enough to appease various gamers
- small team investigations with adventures - DH
- Ship based profit margins where the crew does matter - RT

Both can have planet side adventures, you can merge in and out of both books, with some minor work.. they do compliment each other.. just really depends on your style of gaming.
check out the FFG website ROLEPLAYing section and have a look at the text it gives you a basis of each book...

Indeed, I bought the RT book as well, full of great stuff concerning ships and macro-roleplaying a crew of thousands on ships that are kilometers longs. I intend to coorporate desired elements into my DH campaign as I feel that a 'true' RT campaign required the right type of players. Namely the ones that like to 'manage' their own little kingdom, ie: the ship. In general it's a great book if it's right up your alley, it's a good addition for a DH campaign that uses the elements of long-term ship-based roleplaying and contact with rogue traders and high-end imperial folk in general.
