Im going to Rome this SUnday for a few nights and im really interested in ancient history, i was just wondering are there any places people would recommend going to see. I know there the obvious things like the colluseum, but smaller lesser heard places.
And if anyone has any restaurant recommendations!

Went to Rome a couple of years ago. You can\'t help but stumble over amazing architecture and history no matter where you go in the city. The obvious tourist places are definitely worth seeing even if you think they\'ll be cliched - they\'re amazing. Also, take at least half a day to do the Vatican museum and St Peters - the amount of art in there is crazy and you\'re bound to find something that inspires.

As for restaurants, we only stayed a couple of nights and ate outside in the Plaza Navona(sp?) but again you can\'t help but find decent places wherever you go. Great city, loved it.

Find a good itallian eatery!!! Real itallian food is amazing! The only place i found over here is Itallmania in Glasgow, they import all the god stuff from itally :D
Apart from that,,,not much of an idea (apart from the obvious).
Perhaps Mr Manero or Mr Corso could help you there :]

Definitely the Forum. If possible hang around near the tour groups as there are some great stories to be heard, especially the martyrdom of St Lawrence.

So theres stuff everywhere! Just iv got a guide book and iv been trying to do a \'backbones\' plan of things to see, but i might just follow my nose if theres tons of stuff. lol

Depending on how fit you\'re feeling... we started our full day down at the Vatican and walked across the city to the Coluseum taking in as many of the sites as we could on the way. Then a bus back as we were knackered (very hot day so we made the most of the water fountains scattered about the city). I would recommend walking as much as possible so you don\'t miss the \"little\" things.

Never been there, and most of my knowledge is about the Rennaissance improvements.
Catacombs are what I\'d go see if I were there.

There are historic things all over the place.
The underground stuff is particularly sweet considering it\'s age.
As for eateries agin you can\'t really go too wrong just watch out for prices. Slightly off the beaten track is generally better for more authentic real priced italian food.

Iv been told to watch out for \'tourist trap\' restuarants in the popular areas so i was guna venture out a bit for the food.
Never heard bout the underground stuff though?

Yeah, there\'s a gw, a Blues Brothers store (Rackham mostly) and other nice stores. You might want to PM Tony Manero, Zajon, McSciar, Pelo, DocItalicus or Thorek for further info. They all come from the Eternal city. Enjoy your stay :)

III I III, i would love to wander the city browsing the miniature art and looking at all the wonderful things those Italian minature artists do, but i dont think the girlfriend will be to pleased! I might not even manage a quick trip to GW! But i might just \'get lost\' and end up at Blues Brother\'s, or slip Laura a few sleeping pills, that should work! lol

Hi all, just got back from Rome! Had a great time!
@Highbulb Billy, we decieded to walk across Rome, but in the other direction, Colloseum to the Vatican, instead of planning what to do and tried to seree as much as we could! I was surprised at how much there is though! It seemed every turn there was something new to look at!.

@III I III, we decieded to find the blues brothers store and ended up getting the metro across Rome then got lost looking for the place! I had a general direction but my tiny knowledge of Italian speech meant it was hard to get any directions! But in the end we did prevail and WOW :eek: Rackham minis are amazing! Iv never seen these before and was just amazed! They just seem so much more varied and detailed to the GW stuff. Ended up spending about 85 Euros!

I bought loads of amazing models but these have to be my favorite:

But what is confrontation? I have a rule book but its in Italian! Im guessing its the game connected to Rackham, but how is it played and whats it like?

Anyway nice to be home! But id rather still be out there!!
