Hmm, it could perhaps do with a little more highlighting on the areas in the direction of the light, wheverever or whatever that may be. Overall pretty good, although the edge of the base looks untidy.

Firstly, thats a fantastic idea, and I am nicking it!!!

Overall this is a very good mini. Your brush control is very neat, and the gold braclets are well done (with nice levels of shading and highlighting).

Roger hit the nail right on the head though- you need to take your highlights up. The base edging also lets the mini down. I can see where you were going with the dags but they need to be a lot neater to work especially for competitions- also if you wanted to do dags then filling one of the lines in with a bold colour works really well,

I personally think that a plain black rimmed base would have worked better. Also regarding the base, perhaps have him sat on a bigger rock would have had more impact, and a few more details may have helped too.

I love his beer mug- how did you do the froth?

Hope this has been helpful, and thanks for the inspiration.

thanks orkydave, i used a ballpoint pen to poke some green stuff, so that the froth looks lumpy/bubbly. oh, and its ready for voting

Hey rosac, great model! As OrkyDave said, a smashing idea and well executed :)

As others have said the base edge is really distracting and drags the piece down - a nice smooth black edge helps to \'frame\' the piece if you will. If you look at some GD pieces you will find that most have a black base edge.

The sculpting work is nicely done too, but I think where he is sitting is slightly awkward - perhaps sitting him on a boulder a bit higher would have done the trick.

One more thing that I feel you need to work on - the basing. This looks rushed and uninspiring. I\'m sorry If I come off too harsh but I think that you have a lot of potential! :)

Overall, great model, shame it didn\'t get to the finals but maybe if the base edge and the basing had been better you\'d have been on the money :)

Cheers,
Tom
