Here is my entry to this years GD UK- A necrach vampire. Although the pic hasnt been verified yet on here, I will show you a pic from photobucket, to see what you think.

Cheers to all the guys (and girls!) that turned up to make this GD more enjoyable.

anyway, here is the pic of my mini, my mini which went nowhere

(and my back up story in case anyone asks why it didnt make first cut is that the judges had to choose between mine and ben\'s entry, who went on to win slayersword. :p)

heaps better than your other stuff!

think you need to work on your blends, specially on the skin. skin could do with a few more highlights. also a few glazes of another colour(maybe red to tie into the red cloth, maybe purple to give it that unnatural look). the red looks good, but i think it could do with the paint being thinner, and therefore would make the look of it smoother.

but all in all that is a MASSIVE improvement on your other stuff and you should be well pleased!!

that was some good feedback there (esp. the about about thinning the paints).

P.S. as far as i recall, you can post a link to a cmon entry before it is approved, and people can still vote on it.

Nice! Skin colour with the red works well.

I think you could go much lighter with the highlights though. What you can then do is use a really thin wash or two of the mid tone colour, which will not only dull the colour back down again, but you\'ll find that will soften the edges of your blends too! Bonus!

Thanks guys- Im probably gonna either leave this mini for now and carry on with my other prjects, or just get him to a better standard.

Bit annoyed with the lowish score, but he, I wasnt expecting much due to the lack of basework, rough blending and the massive pic, but hey. heres the votey link.

This mini is good especially for the reds but your highlights are not enough blended and I think this is why your mini went nowhere.

Hi Rosac, I voted your vampire a 6 because I like the red robe, particularly front section over his legs, nice deep shadow with a vibrant top. Good colour choices overall (yellow eye works very well). Claws not nails look good, vampire teeth are evident & nice try on the liquid filled flask & vial :beer:

I didn\'t vote a 7 because the effect on the vial & flask needs practice, smooth the skin blending on the chest, give him nipples, define the teeth on the breast skull brooch, get the sand on the base to the edge and blow that bloody hair off his knee & reshoot lol

I agree that you should move on rather than getting bogged down fiddling with this chap, do you have any minis with multiple flasks & vials so that you can work on the glass/liquid effect? Please post WIPs as I want to try it myself soon!
