Roth Mac Lyr and the shiny horns

I\'ve been quite productive lately, and here\'s my new mini. I\'ve tried two new techniques on this one; the tartan and the tattoos. I like how they came out, but I think they can still be improved.

I had to force myself not to highlight the skin further, I mean this is a barbarian after all, he\'s not supposed to be all bright and shiny...even if the sword and helmet will tell you different! lol

Good work, Anja! I envy your productiveness! The skin looks incredible! Very smooth and the tattoos look very good. The tartan is neat as well.

I do think the horizontal line in the downward facing side of the blade looks a bit odd. I\'m not sure about this, but I think it shouldn\'t be there.

On the whole, it\'s a great looking mini though! Did I mention that I envy your speed? :D

Yeah, I guess you\'re right Ritual. The sword had such a strange angle, that I figured it wouldn\'t look right if I had painted that side completely brown either...but it does look a bit strange atm.
Ah well, you learn from your mistakes, right :D

Absolutely beautiful!

Apart from the chrome antlers. I really can\'t come to terms with them. The rest is 9 -9.5 in my books.

Yet another killer mini!!! The SENMM chrome is great! I also really like the fact that you didn\'t feel compelled to do all the metal that way. I think the \"duller\" NMM\'s really help to accent the SENMM. The Tartan came out really nice and the tatoos really look like tatoos - as opposed to warpaint. Another, really, really nice mini :D

okok, I guess I can live without them...for a bit. The tartan is perfect, especially impressive being your first attempt, and the tatoos are well done.

I actually think the sword is done right, SO much better than when there is just a single line arbitrarily across both reflective planes of the blade about half way up. Considering how the blade would curve at the tip, I think it definately could catch the reflection like that. If anything the SE line would be tilted slightly more clockwise I believe.

I agree the combo of SEnmm and normal nmm works like a charm. And the skin is just right, any lighter and he would start to look a little feminine :p

Anja, outstanding work, you\'re an inspiration, I can see you being a major influence here on cmon in 2005 (no presure :p)

Looks good, I am in the \'not sure about chrome horns\' camp. Having said they are executed brilliantly. So a deff- 9- 9.5 (like what Finn said).

Good work & stop working so fast!!!!

Left a comment on the mini\'s page, and voted. Looks really strong, as others have said. I give him a solid 8.5, with possible leanings towards a 9. (I\'m a bit pickier than Finn. ;))

This looks great. I am no expert on NMM, but since the blade and the flat piece beneath it are pretty much on the same angle, wouldn\'t the horizon line on both pieces be closer together? I don\'t know the answer myself, but that might help make the little less \"off\". Excellent work, nonetheless.

Now what I want to know is where the average barbarian can go to get his gear chromed? :cool:

He he, he\'s placed right next to 20 HE spearmen, 10 HE archers and 5 HE shadow warriors in the display case ...luckily the barbarienne next to him has his full attention lol

And what barbarian hasn\'t dreamed of chromed horns? lol
