Hi, i wanted to know if rubric marines/terminators have any real use at all. If anyone has any tactical advice I would like to know.

You are talking about using models with a Mark of Tzeentch or a Thousand Sons force here I assume. If so, yes, they do have their uses for sure.

Sorcerers leading your units is handy, they are fearless, they get daemonic essence (+1 wound) and follow the slow and purposeful rule (which means that they count as stationary even if they move, so they can pump out loads of shots). They also look quite pretty! The main benefit then is survivability and the ability to advance and pump out a withering hail of fire.

They have downsides too of course. The main one that I would say is that they are only able to use bolters (or combi-bolters if they are Terminators) which seriously restricts your tactics. So the main disadvantage is pretty much exactly the same as their main advantage!

Ultimately, they are worth considering if you like them and their background, and against certain opponents they are going to be great, but they are far from the most flexible unit in the game.

Their Marines are much better than their Terminators too I\'d say, particularly if you are using them in a mixed Chaos force rather than full Thousand Sons.

EDIT - Actually I should rephrase that, their Terminators are better than their Marines, but using them right can, in my experience, be quite tricky.

The last time I saw Tz-(hate that word) get in a battle it was against Khorne. They got monkey stomped. Not to say they aren\'t good, but all the single mark chaos armies come with huge glaring weaknesses.

Tz- No CC. Shoot the hell out of them and get demons/dreads to run a screen. Or the opposite, use those 2 wound marines to run a screen for the cc guys.

Depends on what else is in your army and what your tactics are. An unspecific question gets an unspecific answer I\'m afraid.

If I must make a sweeping generalisation, no, they aren\'t.

I have not actualy started the army yet. I favor rhino rushes with fire support, but I don\'t know what to use.

I\'d suggest starting off by re-examining your tactics. Rhino Rush really isn\'t a terribly effective option in 4th edition 40k.

There are tons of Chaos armies listed all over the web, most of them featuring tactica too. Do a Google search for \'40k Chaos Armies\' or \'40k Chaos Tactics\' or 40k Forum\'. You should find loads of ideas and starting points.

As for Thousands Sons stuff specifically, there\'s a scary amount of info here.

I remember a game where they lined up about 7 rhinos, and a heap of bigger things, total of about 20 tanks, and charged.

I have a slight obsession with weapons that make tanks go bang, so charging mulitmeltas, lascannons, terminators packed out for busting tanks, and assault squads with melta charges didnt work.
