Can anyone help me and tell me what may be used for the rush type things that people use on bases?
Cheers

You mean the corndogs on sticks right.. ? :D I\'d try some greenstuff for the dog, roll it out and cut into pieces.. let it cure then sand it to gain smooth edges, then drill through it with a 0,5 mm drill bit and thread it with a 0,5mm wire.. preferrably a strong one :D

I have just started using the bristles off my really old Acrylic brushes , those stiff haired brushes , I can get around 3 nice looking clumps off one smallish brush . Until I can find a better alternative it will have to do :)

You could always buy stuff....

I am sure people like Woodland Scenics sell \'proper\' stuff, but the cheapest solution is to look around secondhand and charity shops etc. What you are after is old, ratty dried flower displays and old brushes etc. Even old brooms can be pressed into service and, as has been said, old paintbrushes, the housepainting sort, are also very useful.
I found a little brush in a charity shop made from some sort of dried grass and designed to be used by old ladies to flick the dust off their nick nacks. The bristles on this are absolutely perfect for the sort of use you have in mind. You just got to keep your eyes open:D

If you have a look at some of the mini\'s in my gallery you\'ll see that I\'ve often used the bristles from an old hairbrush. These are pulled out with pliers and as they are doubled over, in the brush, all I needed to do was drill a hole in the base, feed the folded ends through the hole and seal in place with PVA (Elmers glue) from underneath.

Keep your eyes peeled on the Articles. I\'ve started a new one on putting together senic bases. I\'ll PM you when the things finished and posted (allow a month or so!).

I keep a tight old of the hairs , snip them off , dip them in PVA glue and stick them on , usually they just fan out and you dont have to do anything , if you need to fan them out a little more just use a cocktail stick or similar implement :)
