this is a quick tabletop standard salamander i did about five years ago...
he is based with pure dark angels green, the layered with pure snot green, and finished with a highlight of pure strikin\' scorpion green...
the photo is crap, and the mini is old, but it should give ya an idea of a simple, effective, technique for an army...

There are lots :D

Welcome to the boards too :p

I\'ll give the Salamander a go today and post a pic after.

I looked through the articles and only found 1 article on layering and all the comments were slating the article. But i think i got the jist of it

And thanks for the welcome DaN :D

Killing - I\'m currently painting some Salamanders.

For Marines I never bother with all the subtle shading cause do a lot of flat surfaces time and time again would drive me mad.

Here\'s my WIP

SalamanderWIP.jpg

I use

Skull White - UnderCoat
Dark Angels Green - Base Coat
Snot Green - Primary Coat
50% Snot Green, 50% Striking Scorpians Green - 1st Highlight
Striking Scorpians Green - Final Highlight

That\'s it

K im good with colors and after seeing how u painted your sm you could maby do something related to folk lore. Vulkan(think thats his name) is the primarch. He was known to carry 2 hammers and was a smith. Maby a SM guy looing up (chin is up and cant realy see his face) while holding two thunder hammers over his head backed by thunder clouds and lighting or a devine holy light from heaven shining on to him would be cool. Oh and make the guy black \'caz I think Vulcan was black...not shure so don\'t quote me on it.:)

that would be a cool chaper standard with a black background and a light green (70-30ish) scorpion green/ dark angles green border around it
