We probably won\'t see Nigel in here for a bit as his head will be too big lol

His mini was great though and the base was superb!

Great day at Salute.
It was excellent to meet up with so many people this year. So many lovely minis to drool at.
Joes collection is still so humbling.

Sorry I didn\'t catch up with you Ben, we were sat in the next coffee place along because of seating.

Was great to win bos, as mentioned some absolutely stunning stuff.

Nigel

Well, no pics from me

But was great to see people and chat
And some of the figures entered were excellent.

Adrian Walters placed with his Horthak and I think the Hasslefree Samurai Woman, but not 100% sure about that.

But as already mentioned, a lot more entries than last year. The standard was really high, and the rewards were well spread.

Mint Day! Big congrats to Billy! But no congrats for Nigel his Libby was covered in flaws ;)

And big thanks to Joe for all that gear.

I\'v got a few pics but you will have to give me a chance to get them up.

*EDIT* Pics, http://gallery.mac.com/matthewbraid/100463 no many, but it\'s better than nothing. And I can\'t be arsed to lighten them, download them and do it yourselves if you really want to. I\'m lazy.

Excellent day and as metioned the standard was way up thi year in in the historic classes.

Others that won were Lou W with his thunderbolt pilot and also Avicenna took two places as well and don\'t forget our own Highblupbilly (or however he spells it) :D who took the best painted limited last years figure and the £50 prize which he blew at teh Hasslefree stand :D

A Grip...yeah I know and there is always one (it\'s me :D ) I am not saying that Adrian Walters 1st & 2nd place fantasy single were not well deserved because they were. However last year they only allowed one entry per categorory so it was dissapointing for one person I felt this year to win both prizes for that category.

nick232 you did meet Freak he was sat opposite you at one stage if I remember correctly :)

Ben shame we didn\'t meet but I am surprised you didn\'t see us all with a pile of painted figures in the coffee place directly outside the Salaute hall just before the Costa Coffee.

Sounds like everyone had a great time. Did Jakob Neilson win anything?

Its also great to see the expansion of independent painting contests like Salutes and the Ravage Open Mix in Paris in the Fall. Over here the Gen Con contest grows every year.

:D Good Show & meet up.

@Squidders :thanks for the freebies & please keep comissioning so we can oggle at the collection.

@Wargriffon :no win for me this year, I\'ll try and get some pictures of the Test Pilot up.

@Talonicus :BOS congrats but plz dont pray for more of a challenge at the painting competitions- you\'re making it tough enough

dammit lou. i must have dreamed that. i could have sworn you went up for something!!

congrats to all those who did win, even nigel who could hear the crowds clapping and cheering his name even before he had entered the mini! (oh and well done to his uber-patient missus who braved the whole day!)

nick, i was there. talking to billy, although i was rude and didn\'t introduce myself

thanks for the mini joe, i must get all my old chaos warriors painted up!

@ben we had to move across for more room, but i did try to keep an eye out for any stragglers, obviously didnt do a good enough job!

It sounds like it was fun. I asked Billy to take the mini I gave him for Christmas with him and show it to people. Did you all get to see it?

Way to go Nige! I knew you\'d do well with that one and I haven\'t heard from Billy yet but I understand he\'s had a win in his first live comp ever. I wish I could have been there.

Yep, great day all round and I did win the toughest category, beating off al three other entries much to my surprise. Best of all, that category carried with it a £50 voucher prize so thanks to Sally and Kev for letting me swap that for a ridiculously huge pile of Hasslefree goodies :D

Well done to Nigel, hate to say it but that was a well deserved win

It was a great show and the quality of the entries in the competition was so high. I must admit I was gobsmacked at getting 1st and 2nd in the Sci-Fi single figure mainly as I wasn\'t going to enter anything, but kind of got talked into it by a mate.

Was great to meet some people and thanks loads to Chris (who\'s Ork was bloody nicely done) for the loan of the superglue.

As for the Libby on Tiger that won overall - that has got to be one of the best bases I\'ve seen, the paint job on the tiger and Libby itself wasn\'t bad either ;). Congrats Nigel.

Congrats to all the winners. From some of the pics I\'ve seen looks like everyone had a blast.

Think someone needs to be taken out a shot at the Warlords for letting people enter multiple minis into categories.

hey guys,

what an amazing salute it was this year. The level of painting in the competition was MUCH MUCH higher than that of the previous years and everyone that won defineately deserved it.

It was really nice meeting with some of the cmon members such as peteh and prawpower to name but 2 (although i seemed to miss the costa meet along with ben (rocketandroll)).
no prob for the super glue pete ;p and once again congrats on the wins.

He was a bit worried though when he saw another entry on the winners table next to him as last year they didn\'t bother with a 2nd place for that category lollollollollol
