Hey guys and gals,

always get a bit nervous posting stuff up here, but i thought i'd throw this up for people to comment on. This was the mini i entered at Salute on the weekend and luckily managed to pick up a gold with in the scifi monster/vehicle category. It was my first attempt at painting a really rusty figure (very stylised rust) and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I hope some of you like what i've done!!

Thanks a lot for the kind words guys. Means a lot to me :).

@AndyG - look at the salute winners as the standard to beat because by next year they will have all improved again. It's a hard game of catch up, taken me quite some time but I feel like I'm finally getting there.

@Jcichon - I'm happy you like the blue because it was REALLY hard lol. I have so much respect for joe from the 'EM team for his marneus Calgary because I would go insane trying to do a whole mini like that.
If your interested though, the blue was basecoated with ultramarine blue and then I blocked in the highlights with a mix of ultra and sw.grey. I pushed the highlights up to pure sw.grey and then used an off white(towards orange) for the highlights. Then I started shading by using regal blue and then black. Finally I used some black and orange for the deepest bits. I then did a lot of glazes with Windsor and Newton deep blue ink (not sure of the name) finally I used white for spot highlights. If you attempt it I suggest a lot of patience...it's very time consuming lol.

Pictish Mini Painting

I'm actually a man!
Thats a lovely mini, i like the shiny vs the old n damaged, and the cutesy but threatening nature of the scene, if that makes sense. Well done on the gold :)

Great mini! So many cool things to look at over and over. It's not that often that there is a mini to spend minutes looking at and examining.
