Santa........in July?

There was a guy on a local radio station that would do a \'Christmas alert\' every year. Him or callers to the show would always look for how early Christmas stuff would show up in stores. That got me to looking and today - July 17 I saw a bunch of Christmas stuff in the Hallmark Store! My mom used to say that Christmas shopping used to start the day after Thanksgiving - the last Thursday in November. Dem was the days.....

Ah, but now the summer sales help clear through the stock left over from last year.

I\'m actually thinking about getting rid of all my decorations and stuff, cos I\'m fed up of living in places where I don\'t have anywhere to store my tree during the year. I\'m also thinking, why bother decorating any more - some natural foliage would be just as good.

That\'s easily one of my favorite things about Christmas. One of those smells that brings back strong positive memories. Funny how some smells can instantly zip one to another time. There\'s a certain wild brush that grows around here and later in the summer I\'ll catch a whiff of it and just shoot back 40 years to a wonderful part of my childhood.

Many stores run Christmas in July sales, especially those that have craft sections..it reminds people to start now making all those hand made Christmas gifts.
