Greetings all,
I just recently purchased this Elf Warlock miniature from my local hobby store. He's from the REAPER Dark Heaven Legends series. I thought it would be fun to post my progress on this little guy as I go along. Please stay tuned as we embark on this wonderful journey of you watching my paint and post. :party:Lol thanks!

First things first

Since this guy is a elf I wanted to go with green for his cloak. That sounded kinda racist( apologies to all the elves reading. You can wear any color you like). Lol
I like the idea of using earthy colors, so that's what I done. Started with the cloak. Establishing highlights and moved on to other parts. What ya think?

What level of paint job are you shooting for? The cloak looks fine for basic table top, but to bring it to the next level you probably need a couple darker shade in the shadows and a few more shades between your base coat and the highlights. The highlights look to be placed well, but the addition color shades will help make the transition look less abrupt and smoother.

1. before painting you should prepare the model better imho. There are massive mouldlines on the arms, leg, some on the staff too.
1b. I think the staff should be straight. Thin parts on metal models can bend, but you could bend it back without breaking if you do it carefully.
1c. Metal models especially with lots of clothes, armor, skin take on a bit of polishing with steel wool very well. It makes the surface smoother which helps in the painting.
2. I think a spray primer before paint could come in handy.

3. painting itself is ok if you aim at a fast work for play.If you want to go further, than you can use TheBear's comment for that.
