Savage Mix Open Mini Convention in Paris September 2006

Does anyone know where to go online to register for, and get information, about attending the \"Savage Mix Open\" miniature convention in Paris this coming September? I would prefer to find a website where the information is in English, but if it is in French, c\'est possible que je comprenne aussi bien cela, je suppose, mais ma connaissance de Français est très pauvre. :D

Help ! I want to go to Paris to see all the miniatures by the fabulous French mini painters ! :)

Anyone have any information ? svp ? ???

All I can offer are the rules fpr the painting contest in english curtesy of Cyril: http://neomodel.free.fr/mix-open-en.html
There is an eMail adress included, maybe you can just contact Ravage.

You are talking about the \'Ravage Mix Open\' I assume ;)

Hope this helps :)

I know there have been some rule changes of late, but most of the info online is about competition rules and not registration etc.

I did ask if the updated rules would be published in english soon on Creafigs, but last time I looked, I\'d no reply.

Hopefull there will be more than just French figure painters there; but whatever happens it\'ll be a chance to see a wide variety of impressive minis over more than 6 hours!

Oooh ! \"RAVAGE\" Mix Open, not \"Savage\"....wow... :D (embarassed grin) ... that might explain why I could not get any results to match when \"googling\" what I thought the name of the convention was. LOL ! So, I guess that tells you how much (i.e., how little) about the actually game or line of miniatures or whatever is involved. Ha !

All I knew is that I need to go to Paris to meet some friends, pick up some items, and there was \"this convention\" in September where all the \"best french miniature painters\" would be attending and since I would have to be \"in paris anyway\", why should I not just combine the trip !

Okay ! C\'est si bon ! I would be grateful for any information you could provide me. Thank you ! And I can start by using the email address you so kindly referenced.

How does it work?

Does all \"paint\" entries go into the same category? That would mean that a large diorama competes against a single figure:eek:

Please clarify if you know.

Best wishes

in theory, in an \"open\" competition, you don\'t \"compete\" against anyone or anything. Your work is not judged on what it\'s next to, but to a \"standard\" your work has reached. That \"standard\" is decided by EXPERIENCED judges and clearly set criteria, not what mood the judges are in at the time!!

As such, there is not a \"first past the post\" 1st, 2nd 3rd award system, but multiple awards (or none) to those pieces that reach a standard (or not, if nothing does)

what criteria the judges at this show will use I have no idea, but as a system, it rewards quality work, and is far more encouraging to the artists.

Hope Vincenti can reply to this as he has a great deal of experience in this type of judging system.
