I was in a similar(ish) situation to yourself a few years ago. I'd painted/gamed a lot throughout my teens, but then packed it in (and sold most of my minis) when I went to uni (other priorities arose...) and hadnt touched it until my mid/late twenties when I saw an old copy of Realm Of Chaos in my branch trainer's bag. One thing led to another and we agreed to have a game of Blood Bowl.
7 years later, I now have 8000pts of eldar (including a titan), 4000pts of dark eldar and about the same in Nurgle Marines, two warmachine armies, a malifaux crew and god knows how many odds-n-sods minis that I bought because "I really want to paint that" (but havent yet...).
BUT, what I also have is a great group of friends who I would never otherwise have met, and in fact if I imagine what my social life would be like here in rural Japan without them, I would be a bit sad and lonely, I reckon.
So yeah - welcome back to the hobby, mate

It'll cost you your soul, but you'll get some good mates out of it
