Is Games Workshop going to stop selling bitz after 14 February 2008? Someone just told me this.

No.. God I swear when it comes to this company on the slightest rumor or mis report people freek.
They are redoing the bitz line..yes some pieces will be dropped but well they are the pieces that no one orders anyways. They can\'t possibly keep everything in the catalog.
On that date they are launching a totally new ordering system. I understand the order page/store will be universal world wide..so no matter where you are everyone can order the same items..no more well they can get this in the Uk but not here..why not.. it will process your order according to your location.
Please dont panic..

I did.
I just tried to order bitz from a guy on line and he said that GW changed their policy and were getting rid of bitz all together. I was just checking to see is something drastic has happen.
I figured it would be best to ask instead passing on bad information.

They\'re also producing bitz packs. The first ones are for orks so you can covert the new boyz into burner boys or whatever it is.

I had been \'reliably\' informed by a friend (ex GW employee with insider knowledge) that they were indeed stopping selling ALL individual components as of the end of Jan.
All that would be available would be \'bitz packs\' of pre-determined selected themed parts, eg: \'space marine weapons and accessories\', or \'chaos limbs and appendages\' or whatever. I know as a result loads of folks I know have been ordering their last few single parts they need this last week or two on the assumption they\'ll have to buy complete models after that date.
It\'d be nice to hear it\'s all untrue, but given GW\'s general trends the last few years I have to believe it is true as bitz is probably not cost effective for them given the work involved in finding and packaging up tiny individual pieces of lead worth pence each and posting them to people.

Given that the price of individual pieces of a single mini is at tames twice as much as what the mini would cost otherwise (which in itself has quite a profit margin), I don\'t see a problem there. Hell, Necron Flayed One claws go for 1,80 € a pair!
The only problem I see would be the increasing amount of storage space all the stuff is taking up.

This looks like a great way to sell bits. Get a blister full of bits for the price of one or two minis. One can never have too many bitz.
Downside - this could be a great way for GW to get rid of bitz that don\'t sell. \"We\'ll put 6 of those cobwebbed things that haven\'t moved in years with that one thing that everyone orders and sell it for twice that one thing\'s price.\"

I really guess untill we see what they do.. no point in speculating..But Im sure not everyone will be happy.
I always found that if I needed a couple bits..by the time I payed the expensive bit price and the shipping..it was far cheaper just to buy the complete figures or box sets and keep the other parts in my bits drawer.
I myself love the new plastics because I look at each boxset and a wonderful box of bits!

I have some metal minis that need parts. I never worried about getting them because ther would always be bitz. I guess I was wrong.

I am with DFD. Let\'s just wait and see what happens. Rocket and Roll and I both have the same information. Yousay you have a reliable source. So, let\'s see.
A couple of years ago GW said they were getting rid of certain miniatures. Then htey came out with a special book of hard to find GW miniatures. I think it sold for $40. This bitz thing could be a new business strategy.

I used to always just add the bits I wanted to my orders.
The only time I noticed the cost was when I had to pay shipping when THEIR box didn\'t have the proper parts.
Hence the reason I mail-order. That and being too lazy to drive the 45 minutes to the nearest GW, or 39 minutes to the nearest (hit or miss) independant.
You can\'t please everyone, but GW could try to please SOMEONE!!
They dominate the market because for the most part their pieces are nice to look at, easy to assembly, fun to convert, and their games have LOADS of depth, and it is as deep a story as you like.
The problems are from their policies, and their sudden mutation in customer service.
I\'m STILL waiting on the heads I was promised by one of their Reps.
And their Gustapo attitude towards the little guys, is getting out of hand.
They are no longer acting like a company, they\'ve started acting like a Corporate Entity, and that will just suck. greedy gits
