Scale 75 pots loaded with explosives?

So my new scale 75 set arrives. As a long time citadel user, like many I take a certain delight in diversifying from GW. I happily open the set and notice the paint I plan on using appears sealed at the top of the dropper bottle.
Ah cool I think, keeps the paint fresh, good thinking.
I get out my trusty hypodermic needles and punch a hole in the top and enlarge it using a standard needle.
I've used some vallejo paints in the past so I turn it over expecting paint to come out with some resistance which it does. Far more resistance than i expect so I widen the hole some more and tip it back over.
Hmmm, still quite a bit of resistance, not to worry I've squeezed those vallejo bottles pretty hard getting a clear residue before any paint comes out.
Suddenly the top pops off and paint is everywhere, table, clothes and the diorama I was working on.....
Is this a scale 75 thing? I suspect its the tip of the dropper bottle which is much smaller and shallower than vallejo when inserting into the top of the bottle.
Also, any suggestions on widening the top of the dropper bottle? Short of cutting the top off I dont think the hole could be much wider.

Ugh, that sucks! I've used a few Scale 75 paints. I just take a tooth pick and punch a hold in the dropper. They take a lot of shaking at first, I've gotten that clear residue too. But I haven't had any explode on me yet.

Sounds to me you made the hole too small. I opened up my bottles by punching a straightened paper clip through. I've had no problems. And you probably learned now to never squeeze a bottle harder if you don't get anything out of it. If nothing comes out by gently squeezing the bottle, you should clear the opening or, in this case, make it larger.

Tis true although I like the idea of a toothpick more, will try that later

Use a drill bit, 2mm should do. That way you actually cut out and remove what is blocking it. Also, shake the paint thoroughly to mix it up so it flows better before you try to squirt any out.

A drill bit, even better!! As for shaking it I actually took the top off, put in a stainless steel agitator and shook the bejesus out of it. I think the hole was too small.
Also used to being able to exert a fair amount of pressure on vallejo bottles without an explosion. Let that be a lesson to you all, dont push hard on scale 75's

As a follow up to this I was wondering if anyone has had issues with scale 75 paints and adherence?
The quality of the paints seems good but I was able to rub off a layer of paint simply by putting on another layer which had some slo dry in it. I've been tinkering with citadel, P3 and vallejo over about 10 years and never had that happen. It was their wood and leather series and it happened with 2 separate colours. There was a decent primer on, a solid basecoat followed by layers to simulate wood grain. If I layered too much (you know the many layered glaze technique) it actually wore away the layer of paint underneath. I've gone back to P# for now as a precaution.
