scanned vs. photo

The colours are so different between these, which one is more accurate? I like that the photo lets us see the face, you\'ve done some nice work there. It is, unfortunately, a little more blurry than the scan.

I hate to say this, but...

...in the examples you have provided the scanned image is better.
However, you wont be able to improve on the scanned image - that\'s it I am afraid.
As for the photographed image, well don\'t take this the wrong way, but there is a lot of room for improvement here and IMO a good photographed image will always beat a good scanned image.

I go for the scanned being better , the photograph looks like the flash washed a lot of the detail away . But like has been said by Finn , once you get your photography skills up , there should\'nt be a comparison :)

I think y\'all are right.

I think I know what I need to do to improve my photography, but I have yet to get my act together.
