I get mine by haunting charity shops. Often you see the most horrible ornaments:|~, but they might have a plinth or glass dome. I have acquired a couple of beauties through this route.
I also make them. It\'s not hard. Take yourself off to your nearest DIY store or lumber merchant and find the wood beading section. Here you will find lengths of pre-formed wood designed to make picture frames. Find a small-scale one with a pattern you like. You then need to decide on the size base you want and cut a bit of plywood to that size. The next bit is probably the trickiest and you will need a fine toothed saw and a mitre guage. Just cut appropriate lengths of the wood picture framing to fit the plywood and voila!:flip:
I probably haven\'t described this very well, but imagine making a tiny picture frame but using wood instead of glass. Does that make sense?
