Sci-fi Drop Ship

I\'m searching for a cool drop ship model.

I understood GW were going to come out with a plastic Valkyrie dropship, or at least thats a rumor I once read. Anyone know more info? I\'d prefer to keep it more generic and less GW imagery.

I have this one from Old Crow, and while very nice, its too small.

I also have a Grendal/Scotia one that is even smaller.

Moongoose Publishing is coming out with one, but its very similar in style to the Old Crow one. It\'s a very limited run (and about 100 bucks).

Cool, but not exactly what I\'m after.

WizKids had a \'limited edition\' Dropship for their \'clicky\' line of Mechwarrior, and although the scale is not the same, it does like pretty grand next to some 28mm figs:

That is from an online friend of mine, showing it off with some Alpha Forge minis

I may have to get me one of those...

Apparently, The Figure Trader offered a massive one some time ago, but they seemed to have disappeared. It\'s fantastic, and exactly what I\'d want.

Not sure how to even go about finding one of those. Any info would be appreciated! Or other pics would be good too.

Anyone know of any others?

I like the look of the forgeworld one, though if you cant specifically find the one you want always do one of the mad scratch build WIPs that people do, where they make immense things out of foam board and pasticard lol

as far as i know they were going to make a dropship and ork stompa too. but from what i heard they stopped the stompa because it would have been too expensive....the dropship i have heard nothing from..... in a while. i know the drop pods are coming out though. hope it helps.

I heard that the problem with the Stompa was that none of their current boxes would fit and that they didn\'t want to design yet another box...Hell stick it in a bag and sell it I still want a couple of those damn things :D

Ah War Griffon...that one is fantastic!!

I like it as it is not immediately recognizeable as \"GW\".

And I think it is reasonably priced!!!

Compared to the Moogoose one I posted, same price, better looking model.

(I still want bigger though, but I am going to seriously consider that one!)

Guess you could always add onto it by buying two of them, they crop up on ebay from time to time :)

I have been trying to make one, but I just don\'t have good enough skillz to make it beleivable. The one I am working on now has a \'shell\' of just about 3 feet long!

Thats OOP now and sells for BIG $$$ I had two a few years back and got almost $300.00 each for them on eBay.

What about a Thunderhawk gunship? probably the largest DS model on the market. The Valkyrie is pretty small actually.

I don\'t think he wants to pay $400 for a Thunderhawk and can\'t say I blame him :D
I think the passenger module on the Valkyrie is about the same as that on the Arvus

Well he didnt mention a budget..just that he wanted a large DS :)

Did the figure trader go out of business? Did anyone purchase their line of stuff?

No, I really didn\'t mention budget!

And actually the price for that would be closer to $800!!!!

Maybe I should mention budget!! LOL

I hadn\'t seen the Space Marines Thunderhawk Transporter before either...

Both those are FANTASTIC models, and I love the size. Still possible a bit too \'gothic\' and iconic Space Marines, as I\'m looking for a more generic Sci Fi.

And the price is a bit daunting. Maybe if I could unload my Chaos War Mammoth and the bunches of ForgeWorld Fantasy buildings I own, I could justify even considering it.

The Aliens Dropship is something I\'ve seen, and I heard rumors there was either a 1/35 or 1/48th scale version of that (that one is the teensy 1/72) but haven\'t been able to find more.

The Figure Trader one is almost \'dead on\' what I am looking for. It has a futuristic, yet generic look that would fit in within any Sci-fi setting.

Another pic I found of it. (from the Urban Mammoth forum site)

OH, and I also heard that Armorcast is designing a drop ship, but from what I see it looks too close to the VTOLs from above.
